Got one two weeks ago and it works fine.
I removed Win Me! and installed Win2k ( HP has all the drivers) and added more memory.
One thing I noticed, is that the are no Win Me! Cd-rom shipped with it..
Or I didn't find mine.Other than that works sweeet, watch the Matrix on it.

Dr Fatal,
Is the speed ok for watching DVD's?

Also, How long did it take for them to ship it to ya?

How does the TV Out look?

ScAndal, yes the speed is ok for DVD (I even had a 366 P2 thinkpad that played DVD's perfectly). Get more RAM, and use Win2k! This is an excellent price for a budge latptop with TFT screen and DVD-ROM!

Guys,
Do you know where the best place to get memory for this is?

I'm not too familiar with Laptop memory, and what fits what?

Got it the next day, I ordered it around 10 am Est and got it by Airborne Express the next morning.
I didn't plug it into a Tv set but I assume it would work fine since it has a dedicated 4mb card. I have an HP 8675 with the same config and it worked fine, except that it was a 4x DVD and 300 MHZ.

I would buy another one for keeps, if I had enough money. If someone really needs a notebook now, I would recomend that HP N5125..

I'm probably just dreaming here but lemme run my idea by those of you who have purchased Walmart GCs before.

Assuming Walmart.com had the $50 GCs in stock could you buy 20 of them for $40 using a $10 off $50 coupon code?

I'm assuming that 20 different people would have to do this, which would be a huge pain in the a** or can one person buy 20 $50 GCs for only $40 each?

If you could get 20 family members, friends and co-workers to buy $50 GCs for $40 each you could buy this laptop for only $799 ... Tell me if I'm dreaming here.

But it might work if they carry this laptop at Walmart B&M's, I've seen them carry a laptop before.

The next time I visit my local Walmart B&M I'll be sure to swing by their electronics department.

I just bought this laptop, and its a sweet machine, a sweet rather big machine, but not heavy, it appears to be about the size of an ibook??? it has ME installed, but if you want to change HP has single download driver packs for 98SE and 2000. Also this has Mini PCI for the modem if you ever want to upgrade (why you would even try to upgrade a $1000 notebook, I do not know). Oh yes, it has CD control buttons, and an LCD to display battery info, etc. Battery life isn't wonderful, but I don't have other cheap laptop to compare to, it get ~1-2 hours ish? My dell from work got 5~6 ish with one battery. This battery is NMHD. Oh yes and this a sams club machine. That is why no one else will sell a HP n5125. Only sams, LMK if you have other questions PM me, as I don't usually check this email account.

Quick review on this laptop:

This thing was outstanding, fast, and very light.

The real problem with this laptop was the screen size. Its 12.1" but only does 800x600. I'm a programmer thats used to 1600x1200 so I just couldn't stand the small screen. I returned it back to Walmart the same day. I went to Office Depot and picked up the HP 5170 model with PIII 600, 14.1" TFT Display at 1024x768. This thing is SO much better and I picked it up for $1399 which is a steal!

Good Luck,
ScAndal

Bump, I accidentally started a duplicate thread on this deal.

Blatantly ripped from excalibur over at FatWallet.com Hot Deals.

$749.00 HP N5125 Laptop with DVD
-3% eBates.com
+$5.97 shipping
+0.00 Doncha love Oregon sales tax? :D
=============================
$732.50 Shipped with no rebates!

My only complaints about this laptop would be:
1) It's an HP instead of an Apple, Dell, IBM, Sony or Toshiba laptop.
2) Intel Celeron 500 MHz CPU, wish it were a Pentium III but people have said that a Celeron 333 is sufficient for DVD Playback?
3) Only 64MB SDRAM
4) Only 5 Gig Hard Drive
5) Windows ME sucks
6) Only 12.1 800x600 screen but at least it's TFT instead of HPA
7) No built-in 10/100 NIC - How much are these cards?

But who really cares for this price?
