The problem with WebOS is we don't know when a product like that is actually going to be released. Even if it comes within the year (which is a long shot), the apps and itunes store in general is not going to be the same on the WebOS device.

Yea, speed is of the essence. I have some hope that HP can get something out quickly given that prototype Slates were out in the wild and WebOS isn't exactly fresh on the block. It might not be super polished the first go-round but we will see.

Oh of course there's not going to be a WebOS tablet released this year. Too short of a timeframe but what does the iTunes store have to do with WebOS?

I have a feeling they can do something w/in the year. I suspect Palm had something on the drawing board already, and from the get go, they implied it was.. "scalable" The two things lacking are GPU acceleration and a good virtual keyboard.

HP Expected to Pursue Tablets with Palm WebOS, sans Microsoft

If true, hopefully, they pursue development of GPU acceleration for webOS.
They hired the AMD guy in the Fall of 2009, I would hope a year of work would give them some headway on it. If not... wtf have you been doing Palm...

I'm guessing he meant the App Store and bajillion apps Apple has over Palm. Which is a valid issue. The useful apps aren't there. Palm JUST released API access to the mic/camera. They are pretty far behind unfortunately =( I'm still waiting to see a GPS logger....

Yea they've lagged horribly behind in the support department. Hopefully with HP, if they are smart about it, they put out some good phones using WebOS and it brings some more support for it.

Atom is basically a dead end product. Segments it's in are going to get cannibalized by ARM in 1-2 years. MS has to decide if it wants to stick with x86 and get replaced with Android/Chrome, or compile a light version of Win7 to ARM and have a fighting chance in the low end. Intel's answer to everything is x86, whether it's right or wrong answer, they don't have another one.
