Hi all .. I'm doing some digging for the tech here at school. We have a jetdirect ex plus hooked up to a HP laserjet 3 .. I think there are two versions of the software that you can use to configure these guys .. one being .. jetdirect and the newer one being web jetdirect. Anyways, apparently, we don't know the IP of the jetdirect and we need to know it to get anything done. I don't really know much more than that as I'm confused about the situation myself, but any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Okay .. the web jetdirect software is working .. but it doesn't see this particular jet direct ... it sees five other ones on the net. The test print that comes off of it shows it's IP addy and we can ping it from one machine, but not from the server ??? ... so of course, if the server can't connect to it, the web jetdirect software that is running on it won't be able to see it either. We're trying to figure out why the server can't ping that machine, while another computer on the network can. I know this is obscure, so questions are welcomed and again, any suggestion.. trial and error options are good too.
Thanks.

What IPs and subnets are the machines using? (server, jetdirect box and other machine) How are they connected? Are you using a V-Lan to protect the server (often causes problems like that) How are IPs assigned, and can you access the Jetdirect's HTTP server from the other machine?

You can get the IP by printing an info page from the printer. If there is a JD card, it will have the machine's current network settings.

Is the printer set to DHCP? Fixed IP?

Thanks guys. I figured out the test page after I posted and yes, the printer is on DHCP .. it appears that we are having other network problems, that is why we can't connect to that printer. Thanks for the help.
