<< Hewlett Packard plans next week to introduce two Pocket PC handheld computers based on the new Pocket PC 2002 Premium Edition operating system from Microsoft. The Jornada 565, with 32 MB of RAM, and the Jornada 568, with 64 MB RAM, will be available in stores Oct. 4. The units have a removable 14-hour rechargable lithium-polymer battery, 8 MB FlashROM for backup, and CompactFlash Type I extended slot for adding memory cards and accessories such as wireless modems."

"The handhelds have a 16-bit TFT reflective color screen for indoor and outdoor viewing, and Intel StrongARM 206 MHz processor. The software includes pocket versions of Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, a Terminal Services Client, MSN Messenger, Microsoft Reader 2.0 and Microsoft Windows Media Player 8."

"The units come with Certicom MovianVPN to allow the units to connect to VPN servers. HP Chai and MicroChai are included, to allow enterprise users to develop and run Java-based applications. The 565 has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $599, while the 568 has an MSRP of $649, with a $50 mail-in rebate available for both products this year."

Hehe, I was fully expecting to see this post. So predictable.... :D

Too bad about the price though. I was so set to get one! I dont know how I can justify 599. 499, but not 599. Theyre crazy.

Cool. I see they mention MovianVPN. I have been trying to get this client on my Ipaq to work with the VPN I set up for my company. Maybe it dont like the ipaq. Gonna have to convince my boss to get me one of those new HPs. :)
