HP DVD740V Lightscribe woes

I bought the drive friday and installed it. Everything works great on it. I put in the CDR it came with and used the Lightscribe to make a label. Worked great. I bought some Verbatim CD-Rs and they will not work with it. I burned the cd fine, but the Lightscribe didn't work on it. I updated the LIghtscribe System Software from lightscribe.com but it didn't work Any suggestions?

Were the Verbatim CD-Rs Lightscribe media? You only get the lightscribe features on specific media that are designed, marketed(and priced) for it.
