hp dv7-1468nr won't recogonize 8gb ram

I recently purchased 2 4gb sticks of pc2-6400 ddr2-800 ram for my laptop. I installed the ram & all my system does is flash the caps lock lights continously. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit operating system. The brand of the ram is G.Skill F2-6400CL6S-4GBSQ. The CL is 6-6-6-18. I'm not computer literate but I was assured that this ram would work. If this brand is no good, let me know what brand is good.

You may have bad or at least incompatible RAM. Check the user comments for Gskill on Newegg. Others appear to have had similar experiences with their products, including with HP/Compaq machines.

I've never had problems with Kingston, Corsair or Patriot RAM in my Compaq lappy.

Check for a BIOS update for that laptop.

Thanks, I will update bios from HP's website. Then I will reinstall the ram & let you know what happens.

Already has updated bios from HP website f.49. I guess I will calling newegg to return this ram. If anyone has any more info, please let me know. Thanks

No luck with hp on updates for bios. The last one was in August 09. Hp is not saying when next update will be.

that unit is rated at max 4gb of ram right? probably what the problem is. need to upgrade to a new laptop.

most of the sites like crucial kingston etc will tell you all valid combinations but sometimes they have errors.
