HP drivers for XP

I have a Deskjet 882C that operated wonderfully using my old computer and Win98. With a fast new Athlon and XP - it's a dog.

Writing to HP elicited no responses; I assume that they're too busy merging with some computer manufacturer. Anyone have any ideas?
 
I know that - the printer works - but not as well as it did. For example, there is no two sided printing, as well as other features being disabled with the generic driver that's included in XP. My point is still that HP should have tweaked the driver for the new O/S
