HP ditching Intel for AMD!?!?!?

Wow, just wow. Assuming that wasn't misquoted or out of context, Intel's got to be scrambling to HP's HQ offering a sweet deal on chips, etc.

The word Intel is not in the article once nor is anything related to them. The article is talking about A64 replacing the former Mobile XP lines. 95% of AMD based laptops from HP will be A64 based.

Reading the article, it seems the quote is in reference to the fact that HP carries both Bartons and A64s. Seems to me that the comparison was between A64 and the Bartons. meaning of all Athlon notebooks sold, 95% of those will be A64, rather than the Barton core Athlon XPs. Intel is not worried, as HP still uses more Intel CPUs than AMD CPUs.

Boy these type of pure speculation treads have been running frequently around here....

My suggestion is for ppl to read slower, cause you really look foolish and spread mis information for the person who doesn't stick around to read how this turns out.....

Then ofcourse get your head checked if you actually believed this in the first place...Why would HP drop Intel which has more marketshare then AMD by a large amount?? They wouldn't, not yet...If somehow the tables were turned and AMD had that command of the market then maybe, but that wont happen anytime real soon...

With that crazy woman CEO they have I almost bought it...she has been successfully running that company in the ground the last 2 years.....

Can you get me a free sample? 😉🙂
Probably not. I'm assuming Itronix's building has an alarm system of some kind.

I say we turn the no Intel/AMD thread ban back on. Nothing useful comes from them.

HP will never completely ditch Intel. Intel is too large. It is nice though to see HP using more AMD's though and now even the opteron in some of their servers. It will help AMD. They will NEVER get rid of Intel completly. That would be very stupid of them. I am just glad they are giving AMD more exposure. AMD needs it.

I like both Intel and AMD by the way but prefer AMD for most of what I do and now with the 64 and the Opteron I might use them for my servers too.
