OfficeMax has the HP DeskJet 648c for $99.99. There is a $25 discount for new customers (see link at bottom of this post for discount) and a $30 rebate, which brings the price down to $44.99. That is cheaper than buying new ink cartridges for most printers... You'll have to add some pens, rubber bands, notebook paper, sticky notes, or something else cheap to get over $100 for the discount. Delivery is free as well since it's over $50.

I highly recommend in this day and age getting a better printer. You can get an 842c for around $100 if you look. With the price of ink, you may as well have a printer that is capable of photo quality. If you're looking for a printer just to print text I imagine this would be a good choice.

Sheesh. $60 for a new inkjet? It's like the printer is disposable, since when you run out of ink, you'd pay $25 for black and $35 for color carts.

Cheap printers but expensive ink cartridges. We still pay more in the long run. What's the point?

Is there any good models out there that use really cheap ink catridges?

Only buy inkjet that's under $60, after the ink used up, dump it or sell it to moron, buy another one. It's not worth to spend a lot in inkjet.
