HP buys Compaq Computer Corp!

All over the news wire and news sites. HP is buying Compaq for a 25 billion stock swap. I definitely did not see this coming. my POS compaq stock better be worth something. I need it to hit 37 to break EVEN.

Anyhow this is not directly a hot deal, but thought is was worth a post. Wonder if the compaq brand is going to be phased out.

and another thing, they both make lots of overlapping products, such as computers so less competition.

This could be a bad thing for AMD. HP dropped AMD in it's computer systems, I wonder if they will keep the Compact name alive, and with AMD processors?

This is going to be a good move because they are taking two crappy companies and making one super crappy company!! This just means less crap on the market, and maybe room for other players!! I think AMD will endup working a deal out too with them.

this is a NIGHTMARE from a cor[orate perspective for us.. We have Compaq servers and they are THE BEST, HP servers SUCK! Im hoping they keep the proliant line around a while bec Compaq is so entrenched in the server market. Im sure theyll consolidate the consumer line which HP prob owns at this point as well as their switches etc. which HP does make a superior product from everything Ive heard.

Good point about the AMD thing though...definately bad news for them. So should we BUY or SELL HP stock ??
