Always check to see if there are other coupons! Very important!!!! BTW, never buy something for more then a dollar when pushing to hit a level that is cents away! I believe that is the bargain hunters creed!

FYI, The HP 9100i series are all the same except for software they include. The software that comes wit this drive is junk (Adaptec 3.0 series, it doesn't even support burning at 8x on this drive. I recommend Nero for everyday burning).

This drive is also the same as the Sony CRX140E-BP except for firmware. HP doesn't make CD-drives, they just repackage and sell others. Sony in this case.

4MB buffer, CloneCD supports it. I would rate it a "7 out of 10" drive... "good". Not "great", but $50 is a steal.

Just ordered mine, Seattle, but no email confirmation yet. I used the $30 off coupon with no problems (added a $0.78 sharpie marker to write on CD-R's!). The HP drives aren't the greatest, but people seem to pay good prices for them used when it comes to resell time. I have a HP8200i that I'll sell to finace this one.

I have simple question here:

Can this writer take advantage of 700MB or 80min CD's?

Yes, the drive writes to 80 minute cds. I don't think there is a drive made today that doesn't. i've got both a 9100i and a 9200i and they both are virtually trouble free. For 100% CloneCD compatability, you can't beat it. It's even one of the reccomended drives.

This is not a warm deal, it is a super hot deal!! These burners are great and mine DOES burn at 8X using the included software. The software defalts to 2X or something but you can set it manually to the higher speeds. Unfortunately it is out of stock in my area or I would have picked up a spare.

I know this may be a dumb question, and has been covered MANY times before, but can you use coupons at the B&M store?

no, online coupons cannot be used at the B&M store. similarly, B&M gift certificates cannot be used online or over the phone.

I beg to differ. The store Mgr at my B&M honored two on-line coupon codes for some 20 gig maxtors this past summer.

Even though I recently upgraded to a 8x8x32 Pacific Digital (Samsung 408) CD writer, I decided to order one of these for my second home computer since there is the $30 coupon and $30 rebate.
The Staples order seemed to go normally, the coupon was accepted, and the order screen appeared to confirm that the order went through, but I have not received an electronic mail confirmation yet.
If the on-line ordering says it is in stock is it accurate?
How long does the electronic mail confirmation take to arrive?
