I was making one of my frequent visits to the OD and OM stores on the way home and saw at the OM a couple HP 8250i's for sale at $99 and change. This drive sells for $199 at amazon (sorry, didn't check pricewatch).

This was at the Greenwood Village, CO OM on Arapahoe and Quebec.

nice price. officemax had those 9350i drives advertised for $99 a couple of weeks ago (I'm sure a lot of you remember *that* feeding frenzy), but the stock ran dry very quickly and they had to substitute with the 9150i. so, 9250i at $99 sounds pretty good too, especially for those who missed out on the 9350i and 9150i. what speed is it?

Cold deal. This is a 4/4/24 internal drive, also available from hp.com for $99. BFD. Sorry.

Randadore,

Most CD-R softwares should support this drive. I got one of the $99 HP9350i drives (mine is a rebadged Sony, by the way, and I got it for $75 after new customer coupon) and have used it with Nero, CloneCD, and (I think) CD-RWin. I haven't installed ANY of the software included with the HP burner. Works perfectly. I would keep the drive ('cause it is really nice), but I'm partial to my Plextor 8x4x32. I'm selling the HP to a friend.

thanks mystery! ;)

yeah, the veritas software that comes with the HP is suck. i'll try nero, clonecd and cdrwin. i hear those are all good programs.

i'm not familiar with what versions are most current. can you tell me which versions of these programs have worked for you?

thx!

I have an 8250i, and it seems to work fine with CloneCD, and Nero. :) I've been using it for over a year without any burning problems.
