My HP 4000 is driving me nuts, worked great for months, then I think in the course of setting up a couple more network users its started asking for a manual feed of glossy card stock, so I have to walk to the print and hit the green button for it to print (using default tray 4).

Its a network only printer with a 600n or 610n 10/100 card, 72 MB of ram, and we are all using the PCL6 driver, some selecting the printer directly via IP, some using the PCL6 general option and choosing the specific printer from a list.

Normally I think we use factory default settings with tray 4 as the preferred source since its the big one.

Thanks

Friend of mine is having the same problem with his HP wireless printer. I think its a hardware issue with the printer. May want to contact HP about the probelm.

Check the printer paper settings. It could well be that glossy paper should not be stacked because of lower tray feed problems. The HP 4000 does a full U-turn before printing from the lower tray. Glossy is usually card stock, ie., photo paper. If it is not heay stock, then try setting the paper type as standard.
