if you got your heart set on this monitor but is not in a hurry, wait. I got it from NE for $200 only a few months ago.

Nice, 1920x1200, IPS (even if eIPS) and LED lighting? This might be the monitor to get to replace my Soyo Topaz S. I like them a lot, but they just put out too much heat out, plus they buzz a lot which bugs me (haha!), and this monitor has 38W typical power consumption according to specs. Sweet! Going to wait for a sale on it though.

I will bash TN, they suck.

I love TN's. I think they offer tremendous value for what they bring to the table. I bought my 23" Samsung 2 years ago for less than $150 shipped. Yea I can see the back lighting along the edges of the screen when I'm watching a movie, but it isn't a big deal. It's just a monitor right?

while we're on HP monitor, NE is selling debranded/recertified HP TSS-23M10 23" LCD monitor for $138 shipped (you can also get it at Geeks.com for a few bucks less). It's debranded/recert, so only has a 90-day warranty. I've been exremely satified for the two debranded HP 24" monitor ($200) I bought a few years back. Vast majority of people who buy these debranded HP monitors have been happy, because they're invariably like-new (both of mine had less than 10 hours runing time when delivered).

That has nothing to do with it being a TN panel. IPS panels suffer from the same problems. Especially those cheap Dell IPS monitors with their poor quality control.

Maybe it's just me, but nearly every LCD I've seen for the last few years has an UGLY bezel and even UGLIER stand.

Crappy panel, but the aesthetic design of my old Samsung 225BW is great. Samsung and almost everyone else has made hideous displays since then, IMO.

...and an Apple Cinema display is just too damn expensive to consider.

I thought the older dells were pretty decent. I have a 2408.

I have a Soyo Topaz S and right near it an NEC eIPS 23" monitor. I have to say the Soyo is a little bit better. It does put out a lot of heat, though.

TN panels are alright if you find good models. You guys just have bad luck I guess. My 24" LCDs and below are all good TNs from Dell, Samsung and Viewsonic. And for the price, it's a bargain compare to IPS panels. My 30"s are great but the price for them 😵

e10 on hard did an owners review of the dell and it sounds sweet.
Min imput lag for gamers and great colors.
Only drawback is the screen coating and he said it was not that bad.
WHY do all new monitors have it?
Wish they had the same thing in a 27...user reviews say it sucks

Meh this is over priced for the current monitor offerings. 24" TN 19x12 resolution used to go for sub $200. But since the 1080p craze kicked in the price for all 19x12 monitors jumped up for no real apparent reason.

I have a couple Soyo Topaz 24" 19x12 MVA panel monitors still that I paid $200 each for. They still look great and will out perform even this TN panel in gaming latency I'm willing to bet.

As for the new Dell 24" IPS panel I wouldn't bother. It's a step back from previous generation monitors they've put out. It is only 6 bit color gamut and not 8 bit for example.
