Integrated Stero speakers make this thing ugly. However, if the panel is good this looks like a pretty damn good price on a 23 inch panel.

Anyone have this and comment on its quality?

that review sucks because they dont compare it to a 2405FP.

The HP is intriguing though b/c it would be about $100 cheaper from not having to pay tax...

well how about in all of the tables where they only compare it directly to the 2005. that would be nice for them to throw the 2405 in there with ratings and specs etc

I agree with that, I mean, all they had to do was pull the data from ealier tables, as that is what they did this time for the other LCD's. Who knows, sometimes there are some pretty glaring omissions around here...

They compared it to the 2005 because they use the same panel. Teh 2405 uses an inferior panel wiht lower specs in comparison to the 2005

Has anybody got a set of pics of this moniter actually sitting on their desk? I'd like to see one in its natural habitat rather than pics copied and pasted from HP's website.

I think it's a mistake that HP threw speakers up on the sides of the thing. Makes it look too much like a TV, and 99% of people who spend that much on a moniter don't really mind blowing 50 more bucks or less for a set of speakers. They should have just stuck with the panel and taken a few bucks off the price. Anybody know if they are detachable?

Well i saw a comparison in CPU magazine, in which they used Apple Cinema 23" LCD, Dell Ultra Sharp 24" LCD & HP 23" LCD which we have here. The Winner was Dell Ultra Sharp 24" LCD, but HP 23" LCD & Apple 23" LCD came so close too.

No, they compared it to the 2005fp because: "Almost everything about this display is identical to the Dell 2005FPW except size and resolution." and Anandtech never reviewed the 2405fp.

The 2405fp uses a Samsung panel and is actually equal or superior (brightness, viewing angle, response time) in all specs.

I have the HP L2335 which Anand reviewed. The L2335 is the business version of the this monitor, thus missing the speakers. HP marketed the f2304 as a media center hdtv/pc monitor. I'm curious as why it has such a huge drop price.

In regards to the Dell 2405fp, from Anand's review, the specs listed by Dell for this monitor aren't accurate(ie. refresh rate of 12ms) and that the HP L2335 was a better gaming LCD b/c of the better technology used by LG for the panel.

I personally think the HP L2335 looks a lot better without those ugly speakers. AT wrote a very good article / comparison on this model & put it up against the best monitors in its class. This includes the Apple Display & Dell 2405.

If you haven't had a chance to read AT's review / comparison, you should take a few minutes to do so if you're considering this monitor. Too bad this unit isn't $799.

Just my .02.

Capt Caveman-

I just don't think it's reasonable for anand to state unequivocally that the HP one is better when they've never reviewed the Dell one. Yes, the technology is hypothetically better...but whether it's that way in real life is another question.

As for why such a big drop and price...perhaps because Dell has been selling theirs for $840 for the past two weeks?

Are you serious about "2405 uses an inferior panel"? Never heard that before.
