Shamelessly ripped from FW for those who don't troll both sites.

Looks like a great deal for the money. DVD-ROM and WinXP Home included. One rebate from BB and the other from HP. Anyone know how reliable those rebates will be?

I purchased one of these, and the HP rebate came within about 3 weeks. Not sure about the Best Buy one - I got mine open box from Circuit City for $899 before rebates. In all, however, I found this to be a terrible laptop. The battery life is very short (about 1 hour), and the overall quality did not impress me. Just FYI.

I see a couple down sides here

1. Networking = None

2. no cd-rw drive

3. Hp's quality on their products suck!

4. Battery Type = Nickel-metal hydride (NiMH)

this is warm at best

Good to know, dArtagnan, I have heard battery life on Duron notebooks suck big-time. One hour is real lousy.

That's not true for all Duron notebooks. It depends a lot on the capacity of the battery that comes with a laptop. For this HP, it's probly a low capacity model AND it's NiMH. Not a good combination.

I think there is a li-ion battery for this computer, but they put in the cheap one to keep price low. That and 75-80% of people use their laptops while they are plugged in, so this way they can sell a laptop cheap and fit a lot of what people do with them.

I am sure if you look you can find the better battery. Try looking up the same laptop with a Athlon and see what battery it comes with.

I just got this and the battery is not good... but i got it for a good price and my priority is price! Circuit City is clearing this model. i got the display $899, -$100 for an inch scratch on screen, -$200 rebates.

But after a week, the software went bad and i requested a replacement and they got me another display, but without a scratch on screen. So i'm a happy customer! 🙂

This lappy is fast, slim and heavy. It uses Polk Audio stereo speakers.

The S3 graphics is user-configurable, from 8mb, 16mb, 32mb.

So run down to CC and get it for $699 after rebates.

Is it just me or does anyone else wanna know, Where's The Rebate?! I can find 1 for $100 on HP's site but that's it.
Whoops. It's on the BBuy page. 😱

I got the HP Pavilion N5415 at Best Buy just before Christmas for $999 - $150 rebate - $100 rebate. Both rebate checks showed up within 4 weeks. It's basically the same as this one, but the processor is 100 MHz slower (mine's 900 MHz), the drive is smaller (10GB), but it has built-in ethernet and the battery life is between 2 and 3 hours. I'm happy with it, but I wish it wasn't so heavy...
