I don't want to be in the majority, the majority is full of asshats who don't understand what ethics are. Sure there are much greater injustices in the world, but even small things SHOULD matter. With how many people pirate and use the same excuses, this thread doesn't surprise me. People are greedy they just want want want but can't stand to give anything, even a second of their time to view an ad or watch a television commercial.

Wow, we should all bask in the radiance and power of your moral compass. Your example, and the shining torch of justice and hope that you bring forth, casts a pale shadow on our world devoid of morals. Those who block ads cower in your presence as you show them the path to the almighty, and the righteous way of living.

Meh I completely disagree with Quebert's post. Blocking ads isn't piracy and doesn't have any legal or moral downfalls. However, most websites have no other way of operating. It's either ads, or a pay based subscription. Which would you rather have?

Option three: Non-annoying ads. See my prior posts on the subject.

People who block ad's don't give a shit lol, I hope in 5 years there are zero free sites online. I have no problem playing for access to the couple sites I use. And the asshats who hate ad's would have their wish, web sites without ads. I love the arguments here "well the site has shitty intrusive flashing animated ad's!" If you don't like the ads go to a new site.

That's the thing, we don't even have the option to pay instead of viewing the ads right now, so you trying to argue that people are stealing is fucking ridiculous.

Like I said, I don't block ads, but, for the love of god, get off your high horse.

I'm not on a high horse, people blocking ad's will lead to less and less (and less and less) free sites. Since I don't care about paying for the few sites I use, I will laugh when it happens. Say I'm on a high horse all you want, but in the end the people who hate ad's will inadvertently get just what they want, no more ads :)

Says the person who has a vested financial interest in online ads.

the only vested interest I have online is hoping the FREE sites I belong to like Anandtech can make some money. I spend a good hour a day on here and it doesn't cost me a fucking penny. I think it's mighty nice of them to not charge people, especially when the regulars obviously love the site seeing how much time they spend on here. Ad's don't work because people block them, I'm all for somebody figuring out how Anandtech and similar sites can offer FREE access in a way that brings them money. Ad's will dry up as more and more people block them. I don't understand how people can come on a site like this day in and day out and not even care about the site enough to click on a fucking ad once in awhile.

Like I said in my other posts, I hope the majority of sites either go pay, or find a way to make free access work. Because bandwidth isn't free and if the sites stop making money because nobody wants to advertise when 95% of the people block the ads, there's a problem...
