Family's Nissan 00 Quest SE. Headunit display is a goner. Makes weird noise when you turn on the AC. Left passenger window can't be closed with the driver side control.

other than that it's great 😛

Errr.. those should be under warranty if within 3 years.
Did you get it fixed?
If not, you can replace the HU with a MP3 capable unit and sounds like the switch on the driver side needs to be replaced.

Yea I think the switch on the driver side needs replacing. It's only the passenger side window.
It's warranted for 3 years. but it's already past the mileage of about 100k 🙂 so it's out of warranty.

The size of the headunit is a double din. We have a CD changer built in on the bottom. I don't know which Head unit will be compatible with the cd changer on the bottom.
I can do the install myself.

Wow, 100k miles in 3 years? Damn that's a lot of driving.
We barely have 100k miles on our '94 Quest. Other than the leaking rear hatch (rubber liner/gasket letting water in), it's built like a rock.

Yep, family does a lot of driving.
We probably gonna keep it for like another year or two then replace it with something else. At that point it's gonna need other parts and such replacing. Right now it's worth about 10g's which is nice. 😀

The 2004 Nissan Pathfinder Armada and Nissan Titan that I have been working on parts for absolutely disgust me. I'll probably never buy a Nissan, and especially the Pathfinder Armada and the Titan.

I drive a 2000 Sentra GXE. 50K miles.

Problems so far (all very minor): seatbelt light comes on at random times (fixed once under warranty, but it still happens).
Buzzing noise from right door panel. Fixed under warranty.
Check engine light came on at about 45K miles. Had to get a position sensor replaced, dealership was not too responsive, then overcharged me for labor IMO (won't be going back there).
The horn is also broken.
There were a few safety recalls, no big deal.
A few things in the interior are showing some wear/getting a little bit loose. I get some intermittent rattles on bad roads.
I have door dings galore! 😛

My gf got in a wreck about a year ago (not her fault, someone in an F-150 backed into her). Hood, front bumper, fender had to be replaced. Their insurance paid $2700 for body work.
I get about 27-28 mpg in mixed driving, 30-32 highway (not as good as the EPA ratings but not bad).

It's been a solid car. No major problems. It's relatively quiet inside and gets decent mileage so it's good for commuting. The rear seats are semi-useless but I knew that when I bought it. The 1.8l engine and the transmission are pretty smooth. It has decent feature content (CD, keyless entry, A/C, cruise, etc.) and the front seats are fairly roomy. I like the layout of the interior controls - the materials are cheap but that is expected. Fit & finish is average.

It's been a good starter car for me, but I must admit I getting a bit bored with it. 126 horses and 129 ft-lbs of torque (at 2400 RPM, thankfully) are enough to get it around town without straining the engine too bad (and it's better than some competitors), but when you step on it, especially on the freeway, there's just not a lot there. Steering and brake feel are pretty good. It handles OK, but the tires are minute and will squeal very easily.
I'm going to hang on to it for a while but I hope to buy something more fun in the near future. My gf and I only have one car right now and this one will be paid off early next year so we'll just keep it around.

Overall, it delivers what you'd expect of an economy car. It's cheap to operate and very reliable, it's decently comfortable and it's not horribly underpowered. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone looking in this category.

Maybe one of ya Sentra drivers could answer this for me. I was reading a Sentra/Corolla/Civic comparison article and the Sentra came out on top, and one of the key features was that the 5-speed edition was able to be placed in 1st gear, and while simply pressing the clutch the car would lurch forward, to help in traffic.

One word: torque.
I think that article was comparing the Sentra with the SE-R engine, aka SR20DE.

Wow, do we have the oldest Nissan here or what?

89 Nissan Maxima, runs great but there?s a small exhaust leak that needs to be fixed, no rust, a small bumper dent from a previous accident.

We bought it for 500 bucks from a friend of mine. New tires, rear shocks and no repair to the engine that already have 255,000+km. The only annoying thing was fixing the passenger side window. No way in hell we?d pay 70 bucks for a little plastic sh!t that we can find on the junkyard and somehow mod it to fit the door. 😀

Hey - I used to won that same car - an SE. I sold it last november though, and bout a 1998 200SX. It's a great little car - great mileage - the only problem I'm having is my damned rear drums keep on warping..... :|

Do you mean leave it in first gear and gently let off on the clutch, thus riding it, and using the engine's inate desire to idle at perhaps 700 prm the only throttle as opposed to giving it gas? Sounds bad for the clutch!

My 93 sentra with 171k miles I bought 30k ago. Other than wear and tear items (brakes) the only thuings that have gone bad were the alternator and the thermostat for the cooling system needed to be replaced.

2000 maxima with 56k miles. Bought it with 37k. Only money I've spent so far was $75 on a new O2 sensor that died right after I bought it.Otherwise no issues at all in terms of reliability.

2k2 Maxima GLE here
black exterior
black leather interior
blose stereo
auto(boo hoo)
and all the other bells and whistles.

Maxima is a nice car.
Maintenance stuff is pretty important though like tranny fluid flush/change, oil change(usage of synthetic preferred IMO)
Even in auto it's quite impressive although I know why the manual drivers like the maxima so much more.
There are times when im rolling at 20 mph w/o foot on throttle and I suddenly need to go significantly faster so I hit the gas...
It's hard to describe the feeling in your brain as your head and body press into the seat...
although I imagine that stick owners experience that all the time when they ride 2nd gear all the way up the... the... torque curve I think it's called?
Oddly enough, you usually wear a grin while it's happening 🙂
Check out maxima.org for TSB(technical service bulletins) on your car.

Torque curve yep. It's not so great when you miss second trying to teach some ricer in his new civic SI the meaning of it though :Q

You're just mad that you spent more on your honda than I did on my max and it still smacks yer ass!!

Skoorbie - Nope. I'm mad that I impulse bought a $17,244 car when I could have waited 3 weeks saved $1800 by getting an LX instead of an SE.

Sonata > Maxima

TN doesn't suck too bad. The Germantown/Cordova area is nice - most of my dad's side lives out there. If I could find a job out there I'd probably move out there

2003 Nissan Maxima SE-sheer silver w/moonroof. I love this car. I've owned it for 6 months now and have 6k miles on it.

wow, identical cars it sounds like

I have a 2k3 Maxima SE SS with black leather, sunroof, etc. Lowered it with Maxspeed springs and changed the crappy POTENZA RE92 tires with some sumitomo htr+ tires that work well in the rain.

about to hit 9k and I've owned the car since early June.

1998 Nissan Maxima, Skyline kit 18" evos.. leatherseats.com leather.. Type-II wing.. stillen supercharger .. running 13s (Yes I am AUTOMATICO)! BY the way this car has 75,000 miles. I hang out at Maxima.org ... but not with this name... 😛

My mom's Maxima has 245,000+ on it. It's a 4th generation.

2000 Altima.. eh it's okay .. stupid driver's side window wont go down. Common problem for this car but that's it. $70 fix? havn't fixed it.

2003 Nissan Maxima GLE .. Mom's other car. Sweet .. but the bose system sucks ! Doesn't bose suck always? heh. It was actually "OK" in the 2002 Altima that I tested out.

and my brother has a 350Z and my sister has a S2000. I like the S2000 better, but that's just because it is a blast to drive.

We don't all loveNissan here.. but I do 🙂.. we have a big family 9 of us that drive with 14 cars.. so you get the picture. My oldest brother is a mechanic and he brings home cars all the time because he has his own shop. He recently brought home a 1996 Infiniti Q45 .. not bad, I like it.

If you want to count Qx4 as a Nissan.. we have one of those too. 2003 got it for a great deal $20s 🙂

Other cars are Acura 3.2tl Type-S, 1998 Honda Accord EX, 2000 Camry LE, 2002 Civic EX, 2000 Corolla S, Mazda Protege I think 1996, and an Expedition (hey we have a domestic!) o and a buick Century I forgot about that.

By the way if you wonder what I drive the most I drive the Acura.
