Every time I'm responding to or writing an email, there's a link above my text box that says, "Invite XXXXX to join gmail". No one I write to needs one, though, so I've never clicked to see where it leads.

I use my gmail account. I'm three months outa school and porting out of my university email account. Gmail is now my primary account, and I like it.

Not a single slice of spam... yet.

I've submitted two bug reports about minor annoyances in the interface, and both got a "we'll get around to reading your report eventually" form response. I think that's another reason they've stopped/slowed giving out invites (besides people selling them).

I have about 8-10 mailing lists that I have my gmail account subscribed to. I get about 30 new "conversations" a day (probably 70-80 new messages). I like the way the conversations are handled better then the threading in mozilla mail or evolution, so I'll continue to use it for the mailing lists. However, I like the imap/webmail support I have with my current e-mail, so I'll stick with that for my regular e-mail.

I'm not impressed at all with the spam filtering though. I'd say about 50% of spam gets through, and I get 2-3 false positives a day.

I wish they would increase the attachment size, they have to be different from the other major free email services :(

So far I'm lovin' it. I have switched over my news group subscriptions to the gmail account, really like the way it keeps the 'conversations' together. Will be great to search through if I have to also, as opposed to using the crappy yahooo groups search, yay.

No spam yet but I suppose that will begin to change soon, sigh.

Only dislike so far is sometimes it is unavailable for who knows what reason, maybe because it is still beta.

I dunno, sucks for me.

Day I opened it, I tried to send a 9MB file to myself, and it would either time out or say 'file exceeds maximum limit' or something.

Prob won't ever use it anyway

you forgot to consider the overhead of encoding your attachment. your 9 MB file is most definitely 12 MB+ in size on e-mail.
