Hows your farcry performance?

Ive tested farcry on two systems, both with bad resaults.

System 1:
p4 2.4A
512mb DDR 333
GeForceFX 5900

1280x1024x32 Medium Detail no AA or AF

AVG 25FPS

System 2:
p4 1.5A
512mb RDRAM 800
Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb

1280x1024x32 Medium Detail no AA or AF

AVG 25FPS


So even though on system 1 the CPU was 900Mhz higher there was absolutely no performance increase. What about you guys? What systems have u tried farcry on, and what kind of performance do you get?
 
I haven't checked the framerate, but it runs like crap on my machine (2.55 ghz P4, 512 RAM, 9600 XT), even with textures down to medium and the resolution at 1078x768. UT2004, on the other hand, runs like a dream. Go figure.
 
It runs nicely on my system. P4 2.8, 1GB RAM, Radeon 9800 Pro @ 1280x1024 with everything set pretty high. The research map slows a little with all the glittery caves.
 
2600+@2800+, 768mb DDR333, 9800 pro.
I run at 1280X1024, 4XAA 8XAF, details High. I haven't checked frame rates , but it runs smooth as silk. I haven't even had a hiccup and I'm through about 2 levels. I can't believe how well it runs.
 
For the first demo, at least ...

Duron 1400
512 MB @ 133 Mhz (due to the processor)
PNY Geforce 5200 128 MB

Far Cry:
800x600
Details - Low

Sometimes it does stutter when there's a lot of action, also slowed down considerably going through the cave / elevator portion of the mountain. Otherwise, runs great. The Research level was worse, I had to drop the settings even lower to make it playable.

Whats your idea of silky smooth, though? For me, sikly smooth would be about 60+ FPS. At 25FPS mine is very playable, and enjoyable. But it def does not feel smooth at all, and at times its very hard to aim.

Constant framerate. I've not put FRAPS on it, and I suck at estimating, but once I know how fast it's running, it will appear to be too slow...it's a mental thing 😉

I don't have an "official" release yet (that's March 25th in the US, right?) but the version I have is giving me decent gameplay.

P4-2.4C @ 3.2Ghz / 1GB DDR 400 @ 5:4 / 9800NP flashed to pro @ default. Haven't tried Far Cry with my 9800 overclocked yet.
 
I haven't checked the framerate (what's the command for framerate on this game?) but it runs great on my system with all the video settings on very high.

My specs are in my sig.

One note: game runs great on my 9800Pro, however when my 9800Pro was away for RMA recently, I swapped in my GeForce3 and, not surprisingly, the game was unplayable. (my son's got my GF4 ti4200)

HOW TO SEE YOUR FPS

Type \r_displayinfo 1 (press TAB for \) in console (0 = off). That command displays performance statistics such as frames per second, number of polygons in scene, etc..

Wife and I have exact same pc's except i have 1gb of ram and she has 512.

I can play at 1280x1024 with these options and never drop below 30fps. (i'd say "average" fps is about 45
but in all honesty, thats just a guess, cuz it goes up and down so much)
But its VERY playable and smooth to me.
My options
1280x1024x32
Texture quality - Very High
Texture filter - Trilinear
Anisotropic filter level - 1
Particle count - medium
Special effects quality - medium
Enviroment quality - Very High
Shadow quality - High
Water quality - Ultra High
Lighting quality - Very High
NO AA or Aniso

Now my wifes pc is the same as mine below except she has 512mb of ram and 128mb 9800 pro, but even at 1024x768x32 the darn thing would "stutter" and drop to 15fps or lower.

So i experimented and put 1gb of ram in hers, and WALLA....it smoothed right out and she can run it the same as me.

So to anyone with a fast pc wondering whats killing your framerates, if ya only got 512mb of ram then i'd get that up to at least 768mb or better yet 1gb or more.

BTW: my numbers were checked using \r_displayinfo 1 command "in game" not Fraps.
 
shame on all you punk 4sses who have a warez copy of the game....Isn't it only going to cost $30? You guys suck 4ss...give the programmers some of the credit they deserve by paying cash.

There's been so much talk about this game that I thought it was out a few weeks ago and wondered why i couldn't find it.😀
