How's this for cooling a Duron?

I've read this is one of the best socket coolers in general. As far as cfm is concerned, it means Cubic Feet per Minute. Essentially it is a measure of the volume of air flow that the fan outputs.

ummm bad choice. #1 i doubt it will fit ur mobo. those are made for slockets. #2 the alpha pal35t outpreforms it from what i've seen and is much smaller

EvilCoconut:

Is it only for slockets? Where does it say that? Anyway it doesn't matter. If the pal35t outperforms it for less money than I'll proabbly buy that instead. Thanks for pointing that out. 🙂

oh and one more thing. if u really want awesome cooling get the kit with the delta 38cfm fan. it is loud but preforms as good as 80mm fans.

I'm cooling my Athlon 700@900 with a cooler that runs at 17 CFM and i'm perfectly fine. I'm sure Duron's won't get that hot.

The Durons won't get extremely hot, but when it comes to overclocking, you can never be too cool. (Well, 0 Kelvin may be too cool, but that's irrelevant)

if everything is at absolute zero...electrons will stop dead in its tracks...your duron will be like the frozen salmon filet that I have in my freezer right now!

Ahh...flexing my brain muscles!!! ^_^

EvilCoconut, do you have any proof that the PAL35T outperforms the PEP66? With the PEP66 being a MUCH bigger heatsink (hence more surface area) I would think that it would be able to cool better. Also, just because the fan mounts sideways doesn't mean you can't fit the cooler horizontal on a Duron.

What? Has not everyone gotten enough sleep here? PEP being out'ed by a 6035? What?

I think they have it backwards, the PEP comes out on top by a degree to two, not a 6035 or a pal35.

wait a minute... NO, hte PEP66 outperforms all other Alpha socket coolers. You can't go by one review. You ahve to look for all the other reviews out there(and there are tons) and by far, all but this one have the PEP66 coming out on top.

here are some other reviews

looking for more now...

The articooler does outperform the PEP66... its a damn nice heatsink... But i was talking about the PEP66 VS. Pal6035/PFH6035...

Mike

Where did I say you were stupid? I just said that the review that you pointed out was not what we were talking about... You posted something that didn't have to do with the current topic.

Mike

Well, I have recommended both Alpha's. Since both Alpha PEP66 and Alpha PAL60365 are focused on 2 different platforms: Slotket FC&PPGA boards & Socket A & PGA boards. The difference between the 2 is very close. Both are top of the line cooling products with less than 1 degree difference, and really depends on which 60mm fan installed, and how effectice your case cooling is.

This topic is for a Duron setup, then the PAL6035 is your answer, it would fit comfortably on the Socket A setup and will give you the best AIR cooling for your platform. There is also room for a future peltier. You can't go wrong with an Alpha.

First of all, crash, your freezer runs at absolute 0?? Where did you get that, Sears? K-Mart? NASA? 🙂

But to go back to the very original post: do you mind sharing how are you planning to o/c the duron? The Asus A7V board apparently won't support multiplier adjustment. There have been talks about messing with the circuitry, but I'm very inexperienced in that. So how were you planning to do it? FSB increase or what?

Through BIOS, I think. Is the only reason why the Arcticooler superior is because it will contour to your processor after you cook it? So would an Alpha cool better if it had some of that Arctic Silver compound? The Arcticooler doesn't look very big (less surface area) and has a relatively small fan (less CFM) how could it be so superior?
