Its usually FAR (free after rebate)... so wait for the deal to come around again. It comes around every couple of months, if not more frequently.

Its fine for mom's computer, but dont use it in a midrange/highend gaming rig. (paraphrased from jonnyguru.com)

The last time I checked, Fortron power supplies were cheap. If not, the second in the list in cheapness at least on Canadian sites is Enermax.

pricenetwork.ca
pricegrabber.ca or pricegrabber.com for U.S. retailers

I would not go with that PSU. Get a solid PSU like Seasonic or Enermax.

With the money you save on some of those models, you can use it to replace the components that the PSU blew up. If you need cheap, look at FSP, Sparkle, or even Xclio.

all of these are horrible. if you're gonna spend $40, spend like 10 bucks more and get a fortron or enhance.

the ultra v series 500w isn't bad so i would get those over the 4 other ones you posted. as stated previously if you're not a highend gamer or you dont' plan on doing a decent overclock, the ultra v 500w is fine, just don't spend $40 on it

XClio 450W for $38 at the egg or FSP 450W (for low end systems), XClio 500W for $52 at the egg or Enhance 500W 5150G (for midrange systems), and Corsair 520W for high end systems. Finally, Corsair 620W or Seasonic S12EE 650W for extreme systems.

Yeah, if the video card you get consumes about the same amount of power as the X1950 Pro does, that PSU is perfect.

someone mentioned this one,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817189005

Someone on XS just had one of those die on him. It had the same Fuhjyyu crap caps in it that Antecs do. I'd go for the Enhance 400W or 500W personally.

The only Xclio 500W I'd consider is this one, which appears to be a rebranded Enhance 5150G (somewhat less efficient than the GH).
