My iwaki should already be on the way. I should receive all my components by the end of this week hopefully. Reason i didnt want a top mount rad setup is because my dremel skills are horrid and dont want to end up destroying the case but i guess im going to have to do it. Mobo and proc are an opty 165 and a DFI expert. Took a while for the expert to be in stock on newegg so just bought most of the stuff this week. I had a hard time deciding if i was going to do t-line or res but now im almost certain i will be doing res setup. Its going to take a while to have this rig up and running though with all the mods im going to do but i think in the end it will be worth it.

I know what you mean. I'm afraid to death of trying to cut my case. I measure and cut so badly that I'd rather pay someone to do it for me. I'm going to have a spare 75b top with just one 120mm hole cut dead center. I'd appreciate any advice you can off on modding it to something that would be more suitable to my needs. The replacement top I bought from FCPU just didn't take into account the the way the fan mounts on a HE1203 are positioned. Based on what you've said so far I'm kind of surprised you decided to go with a res. Most oldskool types HATE the idea of a res with a fiery passion. :) Why'd you decide on an opty? I'm not challenging your decision, just curious about your choice.

I'll hopefully have my new baby online sometime Christmas day, with my OS, games and work stuff ready soon after. I can't wait to see FEAR, Q4 and BF2 running in an unrestricted way. :D

Well i was initially going for a Pentium D heh. Because no matter how much crap everyone talks about them they still oc pretty well with the right stuff but then i saw the news about the new s939 opty ocing like mad so just said why not. At first i didnt jump on the initial batch because i thought i was going to be able to get one pretty easy no matter what. Then came all the news about amd stopping s939 opty all together and i happened to find a 165 at monarch for $340 and considering the x2 3800 is around $320 id figure why not im pretty it would be worth the extra 20 bucks for a better memory controller. And also i really wanted to have a go at it on building a custom watercooled rig for the hell of it so might as well go with a proc that has very good potential for it. Someone from xtreme forums sent me some pics of how he mounted his BIX3 on his CM stacker, i can send them to you too if you want but he said only way is to mount on top of case and cut come holes.

I guess I don't mind the idea of modding a case, in principle. Hell, it gives me an excuse to buy tools. :) What freaks me is the possibility of screwing it all the way up. Some people make it seem SO easy. But since I'd be doing it on a top that I'd normally toss into a box in the garage and forget about, I'm willing to give it a try. Yeah, send on any data you have.
