how's the job market?

It's extremely tight. Look at the sticky: 33,000 views in the job support thread. But you don't quit your job before you start looking for another one. If you hate your job that much, start your search now. Just don't get caught by your boss.

Sucks, I've been unemployed going on 6months since I finished grad school. Financial services blow right now.

Plenty of jobs in the 40-50k range here in Mass. It would be hard to raise a family on that salary but it's not a terrible starting place for young professionals.

Last march I got a new job that was a significant upgrade from my old one. Just this past month i got another new one, hopefully better than the one I'm leaving. The job market is fine if you are good at what you do & looking in the right places.

I think it depends on the industry a lot. I know a lot of people who are good at what they do and are either (1) unemployed or more commonly (2) underemployed.

Correct. I'm transferring at my place and involved in hiring my replacement. Within a week, we've received over 150 resumes for the senior pm position.

IT is still decent, which is what I assume you do.

Financial Services is super shitty right now, pretty much regardless how good you are. I consider myself a pretty strong candidate (wall street work experience, master's and bachelors degrees from top 10 etc.) and I'm still looking.
