How's the Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3?

Does anyone here have this board?

How well does this board overclock the Intel Core i5 2500K? Can it handle 4x4GB DIMMs and overclock decently?

I don't have the board but it does look like a nice board. The reviews on Newegg kinda make me wonder about it tho. It does look like there are a few reviews out there if you look for them.

Here's a couple to get you started.

I've had good luck with Gigabyte boards in the past but haven't used one in the last couple of years as last was S775 but that $51 board got my e5200 to 4.2ghz 🙂

The reviews on Newegg are ridiculous. You can't really trust any 5 eggs, or 1 egg reviews at all. Either they are overly elated or give it one egg for some ridiculous reason. Don't let those reviews sway you, but do do as much research as you can about how satisfied people were with the FEATURES of the board, or dissatisfied with a feature they didn't have. That's your best bet for making a smart buy

Newegg reviews should always taken with a grain of salt. But as you stated some further research is needed to make a buying decision.

I have this board and am quite happy with it so far. I'm currently running an i5 2500k @ 4.5GHz on it without any issues. I picked it up with the Microcenter $50 off cpu/mobo deal.

I have the rev. 1.3 of this board and built my first computer with it. I love the features like dual bios and touch bios etc because they really can help a newbie out.

All is running good now that i found out 2 sticks of ram out of the 4 i bought are bad and where causing memory corruption errors all over the place. I did the following setup:

2600k (stock will oc very soon)
8 gigs of corsair 1600 ddr3
256gig crucial m4 ssd
1tb wd black hd
4850 ati (i am getting the new nvidia card when it comes out)
antec 300 case
bought an hyper 212 but made the mistake of putting the mother board in the case first which makes it next to impossible so i just did the stock cooler for the time being

I looked at every mobo and price was no issue and found this board had a lot of good reviews from the big tech sites so I based my decision of that. I don't regret it and will most def. get another gigabyte motherboard again. I won't even look at the others.

I just bought the GIGABYTE GA-Z68XP-UD3P and I am very happy with it. It is slightly different then the SKU you listed and has a better power phase and more sata connectors (8 vs 6). It also has more thermal "armor" but that is more for show then anything I bet. It is the same price as the GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 so I would go with it instead. I almost bought the one your looking at until I noticed the difference. Originally the GA-Z68XP-UD3P was around $20 more but now that the price is the same its a no brainer. Hope this helps.

The UD3H appears to have Single Phase Power VRD 12 Voltage Regulator where as for a few dollars more the UD3P has a 12 Phase Dual Power VRD Voltage Regulator and more suitable for Over-Clocking.

You might want to look at the ASRock Extreme 3 GEN3 for comparison in the same price range.

I will try to keep this brief. I have this board and it has went from good to bad to worse. Initial build no problems or complaints. A week or two later I would get the blue screen memory dump everytime after I woke up the computer from standby, so I started using hibernate instead of sleep. As time progress I would get more crash/restarts until one day it wouldn't post and it would just boot-cycle without posting. This was very similar to another pc I had problems with which was caused by a memory module going bad. I trouble shot toward this end and found it was a single module. The next day however it wouldn't post regardless of any memory config. I rma-ed the ram and bought some different ram in the meantime. With the new ram I was able to get it to post once or twice and no more regardless of what I do, different configs, everytime clearing the cmos. In total I have had 3 different sets of ram and the same result. Having searched boards and reviews this is not uncommon for this board and there are even more threads about bad memory modules which I suspect is the board not the memory. I could be I got a bad board, but the number of similar post I have seen I would recommend staying away from this board, especially if you plan on pushing the hardware. Currently I have a nice i7-2600K that has a max clock speed of 0 ghz because of a junk board.

No matter how good a board is and no matter which brand, there will always be the odd few negative reviews like that above. 😎

By any chance are you running any SSD's with the SandForce controller?
Try turning off hibernate and sleep.
Turn off C3-C6 in bios also and see if this fixes your problems.
