How's NewEgg For You?

Check out this screenshot, notice the total for NewEgg?

Then look at the calculator in the shot with the amount in it. That is the total with shipping from ZipZoomFly, just shy of $100. The NewEgg shipping cost is what always gets me, so I don't buy from them to often.

Zipzoomfly is only charging $20.98 for shipping and NewEgg is charging $121.22, both are using Fedex 2 day.

LOL, talk about a BIG difference. I just don't get why NewEgg doesn't offer shipping deals to Hawaii like ZipZoomfly does, hmm.

Also right now the PSU, and Video card are more expensive at NewEgg. At times I find better deals at NewEgg, at other times I don't.

Typically speaking, how do you find NewEgg?

ALOHA

P.S. Just in case some might think I'm crying here, I'm not, just showing you the difference is all, and simply asking how you find deals at NewEgg to be.
😉

I'm satisfied with Newegg. While it is true that one can find better prices elsewhere, it is hard to find better customer support.

That said, complaining about shipping prices to Hawaii seems fairly petty.

Theres a lesson here ... always shop around some before you buy!

Overall I've had good luck with Newegg though.

I can usually get single items from newegg in 24 hours, so paying a little more for shipping and tax is worth it when I dont have to wait a week for my package.

I use to love newegg when they were still using fedex as the primary sender. now i still do it for multiple orders since i find their average price to be cheaper than most places and they ahve the largest selection, so i can get all my shopping done in one place.

Newegg is ok for me. I've ordered only a few things from them but everything has come fast and in working order. Shipping has never been noticeably expensive either.

OP, I live in Alaska and have noticed the same thing. ZZF (at least before, dunno if they still do) offered free 2nd day air on lots of things, and would tack on a $10 fee if you lived in AK or HI. So, I could order an LCD screen, and get it shipped for free plus $10 fee. Newegg, however, offered no such special and as such, removed themselves from consideration.

So for ME, living where I do, Newegg blows. I do wish ZZF had more selection though.

ZipZoomFly has excellent customer support I have been ordering from them for about 5 years. I personally don't call $100 petty, LOL

They now charge a small rate on shipping plus the $10, but as comparision to NewEgg charging $121 and ZZF charging only $20.98 I'd say there's still a big difference in shipping costs between them.

I've ordered from no one else for ten years. Except for $200.00 of hard to find parts. I've spent over $10,000.00 there for personal use. Going to Newegg has just become habit. There's been some screwups lately, trial software sold as full versions. They did make good on this, finally providing the software for free. Hardware which doesn't work and is only warranted by the manufacturer. [[http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833108006]
I learned that the customer feedback that they post is carefully screened, so now I ignore the feedback/recommendations completely. Why waist time doing a review if you know it wouldn't post because it would impact sales. I'm looking for other vendors and have bookmarked a few from another Newegg thread. Newegg seems good, but for me I need a change.

never had a major problem with newegg, though I don't use them too much anymore now that I've got to pay sales tax in addition to high shipping.

Newegg is trustworthy. I've had very good RMA experiences with them. If the price difference isn't something like 30 dollars on an itme, they will always be my first choice. But generally their prices are quite good.

I agree.

Newegg is great, but that's the same reason I bought most of my stuff from ZipZoomFly when I built my PC. I was working with such a small budget as it was, so the rather large difference in shipping costs effected me a lot.

Wanted too, but can't afford the shipping. Good deals most of the time, but had to buy online elsewhere.🙁

Curious, what is the UPS 2-day price from Newegg? I'm not saying to use UPS, just saying that I'm sure Newegg gets a larger discounts from UPS than a discount they get from FedEx.

No business pays full price for package shipments. My guess is ZZF probably negotiated a better FedEx rate for Hawaii than Newegg. Or maybe it's a mistake in ZZF's calculations, and they just figure it'll cost more to correct the programming, than it is to just suck up the costs of shipping?

As for comparisons, Newegg has the bigger selection and superior customer service. I am very picky over what parts I buy, and usually ZZF does not have everything I want to buy, and the times they do, the parts are not the specials so Newegg's shipped price is cheaper than ZZF's shipped price. If I just said, I want these components and will buy the cheapest brand, then ZZF is usually the cheaper. But that's not how I shop. I've had up to a $50 difference that Newegg was cheaper than ZZF, as I was ordering some specific components then.
