Here's my overclock on my old' Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 crossfire card.

Stock Cranked

Core - 625MHz - 690MHz
Effec. Mem. Clock - 1986MHz - 1195MHz
RAMDAC - 400MHz - 550MHz

What do ya think? This on air flow in case.

i have a sapphire 4830 and after i flashed the bios with the highest voltage(1.158) it ran at 750 core.For the hell of it i used it to run bitcoin and at 750 it got 75 Mhash,i'm going to pencil mod it and see if i can get 850 out of it.and the latest version of trixx(4.02) recognizes the card

don't try a pencil mod. they're very dangerous.

as long as you have a meter and check the ohms it's safe(90 ohms should get me in the ballpark),i also have an accelero s1 rev.2 with 2 120's on it.And if it blows up so what i paid 75 dollars for it almost 3 years ago

i just want to see if i can get 100 Mhash in bitcoin,i tried 800 on the core but i got a hardware error in guiminer.I'll take it up slow but .80 will give it 1.4 volts.but i'm going to increase the cooling on the core and vrm's.i fixed the numbers i screwed them up

in my experience, gpus are finely tuned animals. messing with their voltage with pencil mods is like a surgeon performing an operation with a chainsaw.

it's your gpu; i'm just trying to save you from blowing the thing up.

why don't you just buy another one used and crossfire them? does your motherboard support it?

it's just an old card i have laying around collecting dust,this is just an experiment.i want to add my card to this list https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison doing 100 Mhash,besides i've done a few durons and t-birds where you had to fill the laser cut with white out and use conductive paint to connect the bridges to unlock the multipliers

bitcoins are a scam as well, you know. you need to mine $1000 worth to get your money out of it, and even then, i would have to see it to believe it.

wouldn't it take at least a year to mine $1000 worth even with good hardware?

you guys that don't pay for electricity are just going to piss off your landlords and wind up in the streets with a dead computer beside you.

The money in my bank account is no scam,all my hardware has paid for itself and then some.And i own my house,but there's a bitcoin thread to post in so we don't derail this one

Last week bitcoins were in the 6 dollar range and today they were trading for 11.89 and should go over 12 dollars tonight,so you could have bought coins and doubled your money in a week.no hardware invested and no electricity used

Thanks for the replies guys.

Quick question...

Is there a way to improve this overclock through the BIOS on my Asus M4A785-M MB? Right now I have the overclock set to Auto in BIOS. This overclock was done through ATI overdrive utility only. Any replies is greatly appreciated!

Later J.

I've never heard of anybody overclocking video cards through the bios, but I use AMD overdrive with my 6870 and it works fine. Btw, I'm unsure whether there is a benefit to overclocking the RAMDAC, nor did I even know it was possible.

Well I may have confused a few things and assumed a little too! I looked back over my CCC and this is specifically what it says:

High Performance GPU clock settings:

550---------------------->--700 690MHz

High Performance Memory clock settings:

500-------------------------->-1200 1195MHz

Current Values:

GPU Clock: Memory Clock:

550MHz 1195MHz

I assumed that the field for GPU Clock(current values) was representing the RAMDAC, but from what ya said I believe I assumed wrong. Although why would the current value (550MHz) be lower than normal (un-overclocked) core clock at 625MHz which is why I assumed it represented the RAMDAC. I am sure I just misread it all maybe.

Also my mother board has fields for:

GPU Engine Clock: Auto/Manual, then choose from 150-1500 (not sure what this does or control)
PCIE Clock: Auto/Manual, then choose from 100-150 (not sure what this does or control)

Any thoughts?
