Im probably going to goto Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo next fall to major in EE. How is it living over there? Anything thats cool or sucks? Anything I should know about the college or in general? Thanks.

Its a small town so the majority of people's weekends consist of drinkin/strip clubs. I goto Pomona but have friends at SLO.

it's tight... right next to Pismo Beach so it's really nice out there... perfect riding weather if you have a bike. Should've applied there for undergrad... oh well, will probably apply there for graduate school. Theyr'e top notch for engineering too, as far as Cal States go.

lovely area, a bit cool weatherwise (thats for me coming from LA).. the place is abundant with HOT women. I was there this weekend to check out WoW Week people.. mmmmmm.. I cant believe there are so many hot women in this world.. now how the heck do I get them to get to know me and vice versa.

Its a decent school, if you dotn live on campus its a bitch to get a place in SLO but you can find if you head in early to find a apt / house. Its plus points are the women, beach and that's about it.. there is a few strip clubs, a few bars (which is no use if your under 21) and there is the Grad.

You're a wild man, Manjul, a certified maniac, I tell ya! 😀

It's a great place....I did a year there....I live just north of SLO. Lessee, strip clubs....Spearmint Rhino (Santa Maria).....ummmm......where are these alleged strip clubs in SLO??

The Graduate is a fun club, as mentioned. Good for lunch too 🙂

I live in that area. (About 30 or so minutes away.) I love it here. The weather is great almost year round. It can be a little boring at times, but we're not far from L.A. or the Bay Area if you don't mind driving.

So when are we going to the Grad? 😉 😛 heehee Isn't there a strip club in SLO call Ra or Rah or something like that? 😕

it SUCKS.. do NOT GO THERE. I repeat..DO NOT GO THERE. you will hate it. it's full of hicks and it smells like cow and there's nothing to do. i absolutely hated it there. You need to go to school in a big city.

Check out Polyratings.com (privately owned and operated). It'll give you prof ratings on a 4.0 scale as well as CRASH, an automated brute force class crashing utility

If you're commuting, parking can be a pain unless you have early or late (past 2) classes...

The school is nice, they always seem to be doing work somewhere on it, though (well, it is old I suppose).

This will be my 3rd year, comp sci. I'm sorta non-social so I probably can't give you many tips on having fun 😉, but if you want any info on the school/area I can help...

In my 2 years I think it smelled like cow maybe twice...it really hasn't been bad. There's plenty to do if you like the outdoors (plenty of places to bike, hike, beach -- Avila, Shell, Pismo, Grover, Oceano, lakes -- San Antonio, Naciamento, Lopez all pretty close). Yeah, they have a large ag program I suppose, so there are more aggies -- I haven't met anyone I'd classify as a true blooded hick/redneck.

Is the Relm (Monterry St) a strip club?

Cool, I'm moving back today for my 2nd year at pomona. I am EE/CE

There are like ... maybe one or two strip clubs in SLO. It's mostly bar's and the Grad. It's good for parties seeing as how it's really a walking town, driving around downtown is pretty pointless. Traffic sucks and they've been "fixing up" a lot of the main streets lately and it's been hell for a while during rush hour.

I guess I make it worse than it's really out to be, it has been better as of late, but it still sucks. The area on the other hand is great, the school is top-notch, and the women are amazing. WOW (week of welcome) is right now, and I just drove though campus today ... some DAMN good lookin' freshman coming in 😀

I actually went to school at Poly for a year (comp sci major) but decided I didn't like the major. Seeing as how they don't allow for an undeclaired major I just figured it was best for me to transfer to the local CC and find my major there. Might end back up at Poly, might not ... depends on what I chose for my major. If you've got any questions feel free to ask me, I've lived here my entire life.

Wow. I didn't know there was another Central Coast'er over here. 🙂 I met JC a little while ago. He lives in this area too. 🙂

DO NOT GO THERE!
There are way too many pretty women there. You'll never get any school work done.

Hey, I'm not a gun toting hick! 😛 I've lived here for about 16 years. heehee

I go down to SLO once a year for a refresher training class at "Camp SLO". I always look forward to it and going to the Thursday night market and SLO Brewing Co.

I hope you live on campus out of necessity. I know I couldn't stand living there. I'll take my 45 mile commute😛

Is that a round-about way of saying your girlfriend/cousin's brother?
