I started cracking about two weeks ago, and I figured it was about time that I popped in here to say hello. I currently have a T-bird 900 cracking, and maybe someday I will get my
old PII 450 linux system in the mix, too (unfortunately I have two systems, but only one monitor, keyboard, and mouse to work with).

Anyway, just thought I'd say glad to be aboard!

Welcome! Glad you're with us!
If you're interested in firing up that older P2 machine (I know we are 🙂😀🙂) You might consider using KLinux. It's a full linux distro that fits on a floppy disk. Once you get it running, you can pretty much forget about it and watch your keyrate climb (you can also pull the mouse/kbd/monitor out). It'll also save you power since you can unplug the hard disks in the second system.
If you've got any questions this is the place to ask- lots of D.Net veterans in this forum. 🙂

To easily manage your 2 machines, you just need one NIC per machine and a cross cable to link them.
Then you can use VNC to connect and administrate the machine without keyboard, mouse and monitor. 🙂

Welcome to the TeAm ! 🙂 and thanks for joining.

MereMortal welcome to the team, btw I`m also new to the RC5 team so you are not alone.

🙂

Welcome MM the MSU fan!

It is quite easy to set up that second box and share the buffers on the first if you can network them together, or you can sneakernet the additional machines as well. That PII 450 would be a terrible thing to waste!

Best of luck to the Spartans, except when they are playing Iowa! 😀

Thanks for all the input on the linux system. I do plan to network
these babies together, when I get some time. Now if I could just finish this *@!%# thesis ... 😛
