How'd you find your current job?

Was pissed off one day and was venting to a former coworker (who was working at another company at the time). He told me to forward my resume to him, and one month later I was working at the same company that he was.

Hostage situation gone awry. I was dodging bullets, the police started firing tear gas, and in a panic, I picked up a woman to shield me as I made a run for it. She thought I was saving her, yada yada yada, in 4-7 years I've got a cushy job waiting.

I was complaining to my sister about how much I hated my then-current job, and she was like, "you know, my boyfriend just fired someone."

her boyfriend got me the interview and that was that.

campus recruitment... interviewed... didn't think I did that great but they took my resume (the infamous line of we'll keep your resume on file). I had another full-time job for 3 months out of college then they contacted me out of the blue via email. I interviewed again (local office) and got it. Felt bad for leaving some good folks at that 3-month job though.

That job I left was a full-time job I got after doing a summer temp position and they wanted me back when I got out of college.

Well I worked at a company who had just started a large construction project that I was really interested in and had contracted it out, so I went to the contractors website and they were hiring like 300 engineers for the project and I ended up being one of them . They were crazy fast too, from the first I heard back till they accepted me a job offer was like 10 days.

The company sponsored a design competition in one of my classes, and our team won. The company then put us into contact with recruiters and employees though various networking events, and set us up with interviews.

So to speak, I fell into mine. Literally. I took a couple of falls at work, ended up totally FUBARing the knee and back...Now, I get paid (rather nicely) to go to school. Unfortunately, that'll end late next year after I graduate...

I did spend over 30 years as a heavy equipment/crane operator however. I had a good friend in the trades and when I got out of the military after Vietnam, he convinced me to sign up for an apprenticeship. My last few years averaged $80K+, which isn't too bad for a high school drop-out. (yes, I have teh GED) Now, I'm going to school to learn how to earn $20-$25K. :roll:

Current job (which I'm resigning within the next week) was through a family member higher up in the company. Helped me get my foot in the door for an interview.

New job (starting in less than two weeks) is actually my OLD company which I left two years ago. It was mostly a college intern/coop type of position at the time. I called them to see if they have any opportunities now that I have my degree and some new skill sets. They created a position for me and are paying to relocate me back to the area.

EDIT: A.D.D. strikes again. To answer to initial question, I landed my coop/internship by going through an entry level recruiter/headhunter and then getting the position accepted as co-op credit at the university.
