Howd do I make things more readable?

Text is really small on all my windows like firefox/itunes/etc Is there a solution to make things readable by default?
 
Change the DPI of the monitor, I think it's display -> advanced -> general tab in XP.

In Vista things are much simpler, just right click on desktop and select personalize at the bottom, DPI is the main function on the left side of the screen.
 
TV's can run at 720 and 1080 optimal resolution in most cases you should run at 720. You can change your resolution setting for games in-game and still keep your desktop at 720.

1) The second thing is to go to desktop settings and change your DPI from 96 to 120. (right click deskop > properties > settings > advance > display)
2) I would also change your icons to large. (right click deskop > properties > appearance > effects > use large icons)
3) for Firefox (tool > options > fonts & colors > advanced > minimal font size) set to 20
