In the last week or so he?s done a political about face and has been relentlessly slamming Bush and some republican congresswoman from New Mexico, don?t recall her name. Says the religions right is destroying America, free speech etc. etc.

i would say the suspension is more about that than anything offensive.

The Stern show airs on Clear Channel stations in six cities: San Diego; Pittsburgh; Orlando; Fort Lauderdale; Louisville, Kentucky; and Rochester, New York.

Everywhere else he's on the air.

I'm curious as to what exactly was offensive?

In a statement, Clear Channel Radio chief John Hogan said the incident in question was offensive "not just to women and African Americas but to anyone with a sense of common decency."

Tuesday's show featured an interview with Paris Hilton sex-tape costar Rick Salomon, a discussion of Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ and a trivia game as played by two naked sisters who made out with each other, according to the Stern fan site MarksFriggin.com.

I heard the original broadcast live and it was a typical caller that called in and dropped a few racial slurs. It was nothing out of the ordinary for the Stern show pre-Congressional hearings and no doubt there were similar types of calls played during best of the week of 2/16-2/20. The only difference is that the Clear Channel execs are up in front of Congress today.

thats true, and Clear Channel execs are also very Republican. Ask Texas Ex-Senator Phil Gramm what kind of house they built for him in San Antonio.

Exactly, no coincidence the Head of Crap Channel says he is "Ashamed" of the programs on his Network.

First of all that is precisly the problem, Radio Stations being a "Network" and all owned by one entity.

Sure, "The Land of the Free owned by the few".

I heard it was one racial slur, and that Howard hung up on him. Was this not the case?

I was listening to the show. They had on the infamous Paris Hilton's prono tape boyfriend on. He talked about screwing her and half of hollywood (nothing new.) Some of it was kinda graphic, but the dude kept holding back, so it wasn't the worst I've heard on his show. He's got a website selling the video, and going to get a bunch of other Paris/ other celeb tapes. Some regular called in to tell they guy he was a sleezy kok. Don't remember any slurs...

They were also laying into Stuttering John for going over to Leno to do the anouncing. They had an audition tape of him "presenting" a few guests, one was Nicolas Cage. He messed it up, and it came out as "Nig*erless Cage." They were all laughing and repeating it. I thought it was hilarious.

NICE JOB JANET AND JUSTIN!! :| :| :| :| YOU TWITS!

Well you can bet the farm that 'they' had copies of the 'On the Air' tapes to
review and decide that which they choose to enforce within their definition of 'Free Speech'.

Does it belong to some individual to speak his mind, someone from the Entertainment Industry to
make obscene amounts of money for a low class interactive comedy show, from hot air to inflate
our resident gasbag the 'Airship Rush', or to be used by a controling corporation co-operative
to present the political agenda as they see fit.

Another way to view it is that a paranoid Congress fearfull of further disatisfying their presumed
voter base - is over-reaching. If you look at the fact that Clear Channel had been nailed multiple
times with fines after reviewing the shows contents.
Over $ 750,000 in one 'Bubba the LoveSponge show.

I'm sure that Michael 'the Muzzle' Powell can help them find anything that they want to take a
position of advantage of the management of Clear Channel, and gain the same cheery position of
presentation of agenda that they have acheived with FOX.

If you don't know it now, you'll learn it too late.
Left - Right, Black - White, My Way - Highway.

You either get rewarded for falling in line and paying the entrance fee,
or you get punished for not following the line and doing as you were told.
Texas Justice - Executioner Style.

2-26-2004 Georgia Radio Talkshow host Martha Zoller calls for end of Free Speech In America

Martha Zoller debates Eric Von Haessler:

Martha (based at the Radio Station I was applying for a Position locally here) is a Bush Loyalist like Rush, Hannity and Coulter, she appears on the Hannity show quite often.

Eric is a Radio DJ for a Rock Station In Atlanta that caters to having Guests like Jenna Jamision on the show. Martha says you cannot have a Radio show in America that mentions sex, her exact words, listen and watch the Video above for yourself.

tally up one for the ultra-conservatives

""For years, Lieberman (D-Conn.) has been Washington's most indefatigable proponent of slapping labels on nearly anything he finds personally offensive -- not to mention pressing for V-chips and denouncing the "destructive influence of the entertainment media."

In highly publicized campaigns, the Connecticut politician has linked arms with Book of Virtues author William Bennett to attack Hollywood: The duo tallied how many out-of-wedlock sexual references appeared on network broadcasts during "family hours" and successfully prodded computer-game makers to rate their software. They even pressured Time Warner into selling its Interscope rap label, which sold albums by Tupac Shakur and Dr. Dre.

Lieberman co-sponsored the Media Violence Labeling Act introduced in May. It would move the videogame and movie industries toward a single national rating system to be approved by the Federal Trade Commission. He said in June that websites would not be covered, but that his legislation "sets the stage" for such an effort in the future.

Tipper Gore, Vice President Al Gore's wife, began a similar campaign in the 1980s against "porn rock" -- which led to Senate hearings over music content and accusations of censorship from some publishers.

The prospect of the White House being occupied by a Gore-Lieberman pro-ratings combination seems to unsettle some free-speech groups.

"In principle (Lieberman's) in favor of free speech," says Marvin Rich, program director for the National Coalition Against Censorship. "On the other hand, he wants the government to intervene in areas that are probably not subject to government intervention under our First Amendment."

"In a number of areas, he and Tipper are side by side, arm in arm," Rich says.

In June, Lieberman told a Congressional advisory panel that the U.S. government should consider creating a new top-level domain such as ".sex" or ".xxx." (Government auditors have said that only the Commerce Department can add new top-level domains.)

"This idea, which would in effect establish a virtual red-light district ... has a lot of merit," Lieberman said. "For rather than constricting the Net's open architecture, it would capitalize on it to effectively shield children from pornography."

Critics have said the idea won't work because different countries have different standards: Conservative Muslim countries could be exceptionally censorial, while the Netherlands is generally more laissez-faire. Even inside the United States, some artists have been convicted under obscenity laws for lewd cartoons. "

Nothing like two ultra conservatives like Joe Liberman and Tipper Gore....damn them and their ultra conservative views :)

Socially, I consider Liberman very conservative, even though he's economically liberal.

Does anyone know of a site that tapes the show daily that we can go to and D/L it each day? Not sure if this legal or not.
Thanks!

E-Channel does a video TV show that's one hour, within a few days sometimes, heavily edited.
