I can only imagine what is being said on his board. I still can't get to it. I don't think Stern is streamlining on the internet.

He just has too large a fan base. I'm sure the servers anandtechs forums run on would melt if that many people suddenly came on board. Jrun^8

I hate to say it, but I can't imagine those boards will ever be anything other than a complete cluster. There are already a lot of idiots on SternFanNetwork (including Cabbie and other hangers-on to the show), and the official Stern BBS will be like that, times 100. The fan base is just too large to make it feasible to moderate the boards.

Did you hear today when they talked about the VIP thing? That would be cool if one board was used for good posters and general could just be the crapfest that it's going to be.

On today's show the Dreamtank guys were saying they had 13,000 concurrent users on the BBS, which I gather is a ton.

Good God. That's a lot. We on average have about 800 registered users at a high volume browsing, and I'm sure close to that in lurkers. Even if it was double the number of lurkers, it's not even 10% the number of users on that Stern board.

I live in Atlanta, and the only way I have to listen to the show is to DL a daily mp3 from alt.binaries.howard-stern. The guy that uploads it always has '[FULL SHOW-ONE FILE]' in the title. Best of all it's commercial free!

Yeah, and that was on the first day the BBS was open. I'd think it would go up somewhat, at least for the first few weeks.

I used to listen to Stern. He used to have a great show. However, over the past few years, the show has been evolving into too much of an opportunity for Howard to whine. After a while, the whine was too much and too often, so I found other programming.
