How you test Frame rate?

bring down the console in q3a and hl.
for q3a, after bringing down the console, type /cg_drawfps 1
for hl, after bringing down the console, type cl_showfps 1
i dont play ut so i dont know the commands.

In UT you press the tilde key to bring down the console and type "timedemo 1". To turn it off you type "timedemo 0". You can also turn it on and off in the main menu, but I forget where it is exactly at this moment. 🙂

As far as FRAPS is concerned, you just install it and open the program before you open the game. Be sure and check the "transparent" box in the program window. That way all you will see while the game is running is the fps number floating in the corner of the screen.

Quake 3:

~
timedemo 1
demo demo00x (where x = 1 or 2)
~

Note that you must have version 1.17 or lower to do this. The newer versions have different timedemos and these commands don't work.
