I'd be out the door fast.

I never could understand why that Amityville Horror family stayed in the house so long. I read the book and was under the impression that it was a true story. Anyone know for sure?

If my house started telling me to "Get Out" or the walls started bleeding, I'd take it as a sign that it wasn't exactly my dream estate.

Since it's most unlikely that it's some kind of supernatural event, I'd assume that the liquid ruining the paint on the walls comes from something which has either fallen (paint, some other liquid), or some conduit (central heating for example) has started to leak.

Liquids don't appear out of thin air, unless someone tried to be funny and used some futuristic warp-technology to ruin the paint on my walls ;)

Amish: the HIV virus cannot survive exposure to the air for more than a few minutes...so unless it is really fresh blood..well lets just hope it never happens.

Here's some info, but I don't know how accurate or correct it is:

Isla,

Great dramatic licenses were taken with the Amityville events to make a nice book/movie, so much so that dates were changed, events distorted, etc. The History Channel had a pretty good show on it, and there are also some webpages out there that attempt to clear up the mess surrounding the facts and myths of the story. That red room and James Brolin's face on the wall freaked me out when I was a kid, though! :D

Edit:

Looks like PG beat me with a link, though I've read some stuff that contradicts several things reported (most notably the idea of the Native American Insane Asylum and assessments as to the validity of DeFeo's claims that he was a victim of possession). At any rate, it's clear that the Amityville story, like most good urban legends, has a life of its own.

I would start videotaping the action, while teleconferencing with FOX network execs about "When houses attack".

Or I could offer up my place as a final date location for "Temptation Island 2".

Warcleric- If the blood was dripping down the wall, it must be pretty fresh, right?

Oh well, there's always Hepatitis. ;)

I'd move my stuff from against the wall. It'd be easier to just have to clean the carpet. Then I'd probably get some spackle and look for holes, I thought I did a better job hiding those bodies. I guess next time it's the basement instead of the attic.

Electric Amish,

Blood reliquifies after a while. That little known forensic fact scared a lot of people in eastern USA during the 17th and 18th centuries when they were exhuming victims of tuberculosis (called consumption back then) considered to be vampires. The blood would squirt when they staked the corpse. :Q

Hook up a web cam and show us.

You need to carefully investigate. What IS the liquid? Rust or blood? Has it been raining recently?

Poltergeist events usually have more build-up (noises, furniture/objects moving, extreme change of temperature, disturbed sleep, etc.).

If you are renting - have your landlord investigate the liquid (and correct it).

Keep us updated.

I'd blame my in-laws. They'd be responsible somehow.

JUST KIDDING!!!:p:p

First call the priest, then the police, then we'd be out so fast!

P.S. Thanks a heap, Dennil, now I'm nervously looking over my shoulder and considering having my house blessed right away.:D

So, consider it a hypothetical answer.

I'd set up a web cam. Investigate thoroughly. Call in the landlord if I was renting.

If I couldn't fix it, I'd move.

I'd call the police, and keep a clear logical head and try to determine why becuase things like that don't happen in real life. So there would be some reasonable explanation.

Hmmm if it was truly the walls bleeding and not some red liquid from some other source, then I would probably leave the house and become religioius.

But since that isn't going to happen, I'll stick with my first answer.
