How would you react if everything on the internet was no longer anonymous?

I don't act like the internet is anonymous. If any of you dorks wanted to find out more about me or where I lived, it wouldn't be that hard.

🙂

No more national secrets.
No more conspiracy theories.
New constitution written for the digital frontier.
Everyone is pardoned of every electronic crimes ever committed (that or everyone goes to jail)
Anarchy.
Chaos ensue.
Armagedon.

Oh, me? /law chair, popcorns, beer.

I'd be fine with it. I've been pretty real in general, and I haven't participated in anything illegal.

As it is, you can google my real name and come up with links to me. I'm usually the first link. *shrug*

I don't think I'd have anything to really worry about. My "online persona" is pretty much the same as my "real life persona."
Most of the people who know me in reality also know my online name, etc.

That being said, pretty much all the right wing conservative types would probably be highly offended at some of the things I've downloaded ...

The internet has never been anonymous.
Who am I then? How do you know that?
With enough money and the right calls it would be fairly easy to figure out who you are and where you live.

Not that I care or are going to do so.
Sure ...
I assume you have an e-mail address registered with AT, don't you?

You trust a stranger on the internet to tell you the truth? Am I who I really am?

The worst I could think of would be reading about drugs. It might hurt my employment chances even though I'm not a user. Some of the stuff I read might also piss off my parents but they stopped caring what I do.

Who cares if any of you know who I am or where I live ,but I mean what about my pron browsing records(nothing weird/extraordinary but definitely nothing I'd like my parents to see), or any browsing record ever, linked to your name for anyone to see? Who hasnt inadvertantly been tricked to go to ****** or goatse? How about my download records? I remember back in 1999 I used to use Napster becasue I though it was the S***. Then there was the time I read the online book tihkal...

It's pretty simple. With enough money and the right people, they'd be able to acquire access to all the information AT Forums has. Going on just the IP address that you use to connect to this forum, the right people would be easily able to track you down if they wanted to.

Even if they didnt wan't to bother with AT, they could try Heatware, or use web archives to access the information in your sig (University, and Major, along with Car type) to help them piece things together.

Your identity is only anonymous as long as nobody wants to know it.

I'd tone down my behavior quite a bit lol.

Not that I've done anything too crazy...but apparantly at times I do strange google searches according to my history.

I was thinking more along the lines of the porn, however, that may offend them somewhat too.

Given my nick, I must not be striving too hard for anonymity 🙂

[ edit ] What would you most not want people to know as a result?
I'm drawing a blank, I guess I'm a bit too squeaky-clean even in my virtual life :halo;

I do, but there's nothing there I'd be afraid to have known.

If someone doesn't hire me someday because I've criticized the actions and character of both Republicans and Democrats, so be it. 🙂

I'd definitely regret a lot of stuff I've downloaded 😱. But I think my posting has been solid and I don't have a problem with anyone knowing my true identity.
