How would you handle this

Every time a guy I work with takes his thumb drive to a local university it gets infected, and he takes his machine back home and nod32 detects the Injector trojan. Should I send him, and notify him? I hate to get someone in trouble but I think it may be best to let them know their Symantec is not working correctly, or out of date. Thumb drives FTL. He's not the only one whose thumb drives get hosed at this place, and unknowingly plug it in, and I get emailed on my BB.

Notify the school IT department so they can get it fixed. If you know, tell them which specific computers (or labs) at the university are causing the infections.
