Last week I had to get after her for spending too much, but the next day I gave into the wootoff and bought a 30 gb zune. So here is my question, how would you go about telling me wife about the zune? Just bust it out and play with it or should I come clean and tell her I blew the budget?

oh its easy. return it and be a man.

you have kids. Its not about you and what toys you get. if you are on a budget you do not get to go buy toys. the kid and the bills come first.

its to bad you had a child. you are not mature enough to handle it yet.

best thing you can do is try to return it or FS/FT and try to get enough to cover the budget.

I mean, how can someone be mad at you when you are south of their border? It just doesn't happen, go for it! :

I meant he should man up and tell her when she was going down

She's going to laugh at you for having bought that thing instead of an ipod...

Ahh, you follow my philosophy.

It is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.

That Zune from the WootOff cost what.... $100?

If you can't afford a one time purchase like that without catching hell, you must have far more serious money problems than ATOT can help you with!

I'll second the vote for eBay, since you would probably be able to get your money back.

Since she will do this later anyways, just pull the "but dear this is for both of us and the baby"...

Hide it until Christmas, then give it to her as a gift, then borrow it from her.

Fill it with baby pictures and sappy mommy/baby music (I suggest Anne Murray), then say you made this for her and the baby.

She'll love you to death and you get to keep a Zune :)

He probably *can* afford it, but if you constantly buy things that you "can" afford, eventually you can't any longer.

Especially if he was getting on his wife's case about it.

Nice post count O/P, saving it all for THIS?

How would you break it to your wife?

I get the impression you would prefer to keep the zune, but not have it be a problem in your relationship. Give her the same you spent on the zune, maybe a tad more, and let her go shopping for herself.

That's some pretty tight budgeting you've got going there...

Do you have kids?

I'm a single custodial parent that gets child support maybe 30% of the time...

Then unless you're independently wealthy, you'll realize that $100 isn't chump change. (that was the woot deal, right?)
