I am a member of an online community of roughly 105,000 members consisting of a large variety of people. Disagreements do occur, and when they do, I just make a pole. Case solved.

Terrible question. When did a group working together to solve a problem ever NOT have a disagreement over possible solutions?

Technically, the question is about groups. Groups are different than Teams....usually, teams will have a leader. Groups are adhock...you could have people from many different backgrounds in one group.

Once you define the situation like that, you can better understand the needs of each of the members. It'd be most effective to make a chart of their needs and then prioritize based on the importance of each one. As you work through it, the answer would become more clear, but with all compromises, there are always sacrifices.
