How would society be different if prostitution was allowed in the Constitution?

Of course it would.

Doesn't mean it should have happened.

Give it a few years is all ready legal a few places, the US will be a Chinese visiting version of Amsterdam.

"quote me on that one"

It would be a completely different society, far more rational and practical than what we have today. A society that rational would certainly not have this disgusting war on drugs and all the massive bloat and waste that comes from that. Restaurant revenues would be much lower, because the whole wine and dine ritual would be diminished. There would be less divorces, so there would be less lawyers. Less lawyers means less legal scheming which means fewer greedy men with their hooks into washington. And speaking of washington, there has to be at least 20% of congress whom someone has dirt on and is either being actively or passively blackmailed. The root of such blackmail is often either drugs or prostitution. So that blackmail foothold goes away too, leading to a far less corrupt system. When you look at all the benefits of legal prostitution, it really makes you wonder what in the f#$% is wrong with people for accepting and tolerating all this other crap which is all a direct or indirect consequence of trying to regulate aspects of people's private goddam lives that are of no relevance to anyone. Who the hell cares what people do in the bedroom and if they pay for it or how they pay for it. It is completely absurd that people accept that level of control in a country that supposedly champions liberty. It is a total disgrace.

you don't need to wonder, its basically legal or totally ignored by law enforcement in plenty of places. The main difference is that fewer people go to jail.

society as we know it would cease to function and anarchy would reign supreme. see Hong Kong for an example.

The police would actually have the resources left to deal with the much bigger problem that affects prostitution and other fields, namely human trafficking. Now those trafficked are afraid to step forward as they'll get into trouble themselves, instead the traffickers should get hunted down and taken out. Basically the same problem with the war on drugs, where the small time users get more focus and more punishment than the big drugdealers.

Holy hell, do it 🙂

I won't call you a beautiful being, I'll just mention it as you're new to it.

Was one of the best things ever made on TV.

But whatever.

I'm not joking I nearly had a headache from that 2 minute clip.

Still can't decide if it sounds more like a junior school recital of shakespeare or a 15 year olds attempt at immitating Shakespeares style.

Either way I would end up taking a brick to my TV after 15 minutes, perhaps it was just that clip but I will never go anywhere near that show.

not much different really, it's not like it doesn't exist now even in countries where it's illegal.

But the fact that it's legal in the first place points to a different mentality.

One word, well two words...

1. Religion
2. Conservatism

The idea that we need to behave in such a way that goes against our basic human nature. Lying to ourselves that no mater how holly or morally correct a human being may seem they have a desire or capacity to lie, cheat, steal, fuck and murder.....

Time after time we've seen magnitudes of situations where the most religious people have done the same that non-religious have. In many cases even worse (since no one is thinking they have such capacity)!!!

:\ Not where I'm from, They set up stings using beautiful female officers, and if you *solicit* one they will jail you, shame you, fine you heavily, and, AND,
THEY TAKE YOUR CAR!

Ok...... never watched deadwood before.

I can't make up my mind if it is completely the writers fault or if the actors share the blame but if I went to play with dialogue that annoying to listen to I would walk out and demand a refund.

Were they trying to aim for shakespeare because they failed....badlly.

forget everything else, you need to go watch Deadwood, all three seasons. GO! NOW! FLY YOU FOOL(s)!

Next thing you know, men would be sleeping with men, women would be sleeping with women, and then they'd all be sleeping with the animals, just a never ending downward spiral into carnal bliss.....i mean...anarchy.

It was sad when they didn't do another season. They left it wide open on the last episode.

Hell on Wheels is probably the closest you can get.

Sad indeed. One of my favorite series ever. The Dan street fight was one of the most intense (and disgusting) fight scenes of all time.
