How would i setup a display case with LEDs/Fans on ?

How would i setup a display case with LEDs/Fans on ?

Is there some way to run continuous power to those cases ?

We had an old AT psu running our display CCFL & fan rack a long time ago and it worked like a champ. :)

AT PSU?

does that have continuous power? becuase wouldnt i need a motherboard in each of my cases ? :(

AT power supplies do have an on/off switch, rather than a momentary contact switch. You do not need a mb to turn on an ATX psu though. Some wiring and a switch to short the green wire on the mb connector to a black one will do.

i woulndt need a switch because the psu has one right? so just bridge the green/black wires?

you can short the green and a black wire to trick it into turning on, but you better have a substantial load on both the 12V and 5V rails or the PSU will burn itself up very soon. That's just the way switching PSUs work.

And by substantial I mean something that constantly draws 40W or more. CCFLs and a few fans won't do it. Maybe hook up an old hard drive or 2.

ok thanks alot...

whats do you mean "short" the grn and black wire.. just connect them?

Ill hook up an old hard drive, 2 cathodes and a few fans for display :)
