How would I know if I set the CPU and motherboard correctly

I have a Athlon 1.2 and AUSA A7V266. I would like to know how do I know if I had setup the BIOS correctly, so that the CPU is running at 266MHz. Thanks

Read your mobo manual, most mobos have a jumper that selects 100/133 fsb. You should see the CPU speed on the bios post screen.

The best thing is set the mobo to jumperfree mode & select the FSB setting to 133 in the bios.

Okay, Thanks for the information. I think I already got it right before the post. But I just want to make sure I did it right, and the CPU is running at 266. The POST does say 1200MHz. ANd here is what I have in the BIOS.

1. CPU: System Frequency Multiple: 9.0x
2. System/PCI Frequency(MHz): 133/33
3. CPU Vcore 1.750V
4. System/SDRAM Frequency Ratio: AUTO


I am using DDR RAM on ASUA A7V266.

If it posts at 1200, then that is what it is runnign at. The line that says 133/133 is the catch. the first 133 is what the cpu bus is running at ( 133 MHZ ) the second is the PCI bus. that is a 1/4 devider, so you must be at 133. ( 266 DDR ) Also, 9 x 133 = 1200 ( well close anyway )

PCI bus can be O/C thru increment in FSB setting. Eg currently u r running at 133 FSB w/ a 1/4 PCI divisor = 33 Mhz.

If u run the FSB at 140, the PCI bus will be 140 X 1/4 = 35 Mhz (an O/Ced PCI bus). Bear in mind tht FSB increment also increase other bus like AGP, RAM & so forth. The safe zone for the PCI is around 37.5 Mhz. But most PCI components can take around 40 Mhz.

U might need to increase the vcore as well.
