This is what I can do for you now...

Next time I go into BB (probably this weekend, I'm working Friday), I'll get the price and SKU for you - and we'll go from there if you still haven't found the case.

oh wow. Thank you! any reason why BB carries these alienware cases? Seems like alienware distributes these cases exclusively in their system builds.

just asking why you think the actuall alienware cases are better? the chenming cases are aluminum, alienware steel. chenming's have a window, alienware no window. the cases are the exact same design. Best Buy is an authorised dealer for alienware now that is why they sell the stuff. i will pay for the alienware case badge, it will look nice with this beasty thats on my heatsink http://www.coolerguys.com/Merchant2...Product_Code=840556099161&Category_Code=FG-ST

cool hey :)

just like I mentioned in the beginning. The vents on the Alienware go straight across. The others curve upwards. yuck. Although the window is cool... I dont really care for it.

btw chenmings make steel also.. but who cares.. You dont place your computer on your lap when you are using it. It remains stationary on the floor. I could careless about weight.

Highly bent myth.

Aluminum is better at keeping itself cool. Not necessarily the components inside the case.

Anyway, back on subject, you should see if a site sells the bezel like they have, somone has gotta have it. Then, just buy the chieftech/chenming and swap the bezels. Or, if you have some guts, and you see one at best buy, you can try bribing the department manager to sell it to you ;) (I don't recommend that ;) )

what are your means of bribing :D:p;)

hehe well I dont think switching bezels would be the smartest idea. Say I purchase a chieftec case and the alienware bezel. The bottom portion of the bezel would say ALIEN, top would be blank.

yo teqwiz and Aj_UF. Do you guys have any good news:)

This may be a dumb question, but why are so many manufacturers using the same case design? It started a few years ago with Antec I think, and now there's like a hundred companies, literally, all using the same kind of design, with minor modifications. Is this just the lack of innovation in the PC industry, or what?

well, I'd assume if they sell the bezel, the door piece would be with it.

If you REALLY wanna know about the bribing thing, you CAN'T blame me if you get banned from the store, but I'll tell you this much:

Go into the store, and find the department manager. If you get a store manager, your have no chance of getting the case. But the department manager is usually the person who has to deal with products taking up his/her shelf space. Ask them to buy the case. When they refuse (and chances are they will, or they'll have to) then you can casually offer then a little money to sell it to you. Kinda like "Heh, I'll give you 20 bucks if you sell this case to me" with a grin on your face.

I've tried it a few times to get people to sell display pieces. It's pretty much luck as to wheter it works or not.

Well, I have good news and bad news.

Good news - they still have an Alienware case for sale @ 119...

Bad news - the black case mysteriously disappeared - they rearranged everything for Thanksgiving and I couldn't find it - but the blue one was still there with a tag.

Misconception. I believe Chenming is the originator of the now infamous "Antec" cases. There are two reasons everyone uses them, first they are awsome. Simply put they are on the of the most successful and best designed cases ever. Second, they are cheap. They cost very very little to buy in bulk and with a high demand for them, companies are cashing in.

They are indeed good cases, but it's pretty sad that innovation is so stifled that there's only one fundamental design being used in this industry! There are an infinite number of ways to build good cases, and to an extent you see it on the brand pcs or apple macs, but apparently one good design in 10 years is the best the PC market can muster. /rant

Now that I think about it, this may be easier than I thought.

You could email alienware and tell them that the system you purchased is wonderful, but you had an unfortunate accident and the bezel and door were severly damaged. (make up some pity story) and ask them how you can go about getting a replacement. Voila, bezel obtained, now fly on over to directron or a similar place and knab the rest of the case.

Every alienware has an indivual id number inside the door of the case. You could prolly get one from a friend with an alienware but without that you are prolly going to be SOL.

I bought me a black cheiftec because it looked like the alienware. I like the curved front better then the strait one. I then bought one of their red optical mouses. now I just need a black monitor to have all my stuff color cordinated. :)
