How would I go about playing songs on my desktop from my laptop?

Sorry, I'm not quite sure what forum this belongs in.

Anyway, I have a wirless network in my home. I'd like to be able to use my laptop to play my MP3s on my desktop. I know how to go about doing that if I want to listen to them FROM my laptop, but I want to be able to access the desktop's hard drive, select the mp3 and have it play from my desktop speakers.

Possible?

Thanks!

probably the simplist is to VNC server on the desktop and use a client to operate the desktop remote from the Laptop.

Its a free program and has been used for years for all sorts of purposes. Very nice.

It's called VNC Server? I'll look into it.

Thanks! :)

best way would be wireless setup.

i know you said, "besides." but it's so much easier.

plus, if your router still works but yoru internet is down, you can't listen through VNC but the network is still alive.

If you have a wireless network already, just share the desktop's drive with the network then open it up on the laptop.

He wants to start the MP3s playing on his desktop, and do so from his laptop. In which case, I concur with the VNC suggestion.
