They actually got lucky in 92 that Perot was running/took votes that would have normally gone to GHW Bush, and allowed Clinton to be elected.

That's a stupid statement. Three words cost HW a 2nd term, "NO NEW TAXES". If he hadn't said that he would have easily won a 2nd term. It wasn't about the actual taxes, just that he said that to get elected then went back on his word.

The fact that Perot received almost 19% of the vote while Clinton had 43% and GWH Bush had 37.5%. Had Perot not run I would bet 60% or more of those who voted for him would have voted for GWH Bush rather than Clinton.
