How will Apple do VR?

Will they base it off of the phone plus goggles thing, or will they create an entirely new headset? Will they manage to make it cordless somehow?

Hopefully a new headset. Retina, imo, is too low-def for decent VR.
IF they were going to do VR, they'd probably still call it a Retina display regardless. In Apple's parlance, "Retina" just means pixels too small to see at regular viewing distance, so it's different between the phones, pads, and computers

Existing Retina screens are way too low-def for good VR. Can confirm, just tried my iPhone 7 on my Viewmaster GC goggles.

This sounds right.
