Athlon XP 1800+
512MB DDR PC2100
GeForce FX5200 64MB

this ran WoW fine in sh!t settings, but it was definitely playable, though a bit jumpy sometimes, which i should prolly blame on the limited memory.

That video card is seriously lacking in power. Only the geforce 4MX can compete for title of worst card nvidia ever made for it's time. At the very least upgrade that and you will probably be fine. Lately it seems more and more games are using more memory, but I think in this case the VC is your most limiting factor.

The FX 5200 has pixel shader support while the GF MX series doesn't. So, it doesn't make any sense upgrading to a worse card!

If you have to upgrade, go for a Geforce 6600GT / Geforce 5700LE / Radeon 9600 XT.

I didn't say upgrade to the geforce 4 MX, I said they were both the worst cards nvidia ever made for their time. A 5200, especially a 64mb one, has less performance than a geforce4, while the geforce4 MX is equal to a geforce2(even a geforce3 beats it). Obviously you wouldn't upgrade to the geforce4mx, but the ti might be an upgrade.

A 9600XT would be fine probably. At least you could up the settings. I have a friend that plays WoW with a 9600XT. I'm afraid even on good settings the game is ugly though.
