How well does a gtx run 2 monitors?

I've got a gtx 570 superclocked (EVGA KR part no.) and I'm thinking about picking up another 24" monitor as a father's day gift for myself. Just curious how the 570 would run in games like bf3/skyrim & d3 though. I'm not familiar with multi-monitor setups other than work and we only use 1280*1024 setups here. My current resolution is 1920*1080 or something like that.

If you wanna go multi monitor, get at least 3. Else you wind up with a situation in which your crosshairs are split between the bezels of 2 monitors. If you have 3 screens, your crosshairs are in the middle of the center monitor which is obviously much more useful.

A single gtx 570, even overclocked, will struggle at 5760x1080 or larger in most new games like Skyrim and BF3, especially if you turn MSAA on (which eats VRAM like candy and GTX570s don't have THAT much VRAM), but you can still play stuff like TF2/L4D2/D3 on fairly high settings at good framerates.

3 Monitors? lol Not sure if my wife is gonna dig that. Thanks for the info though, makes sense. Maybe I'll just find a different father's day gift for myself. lol

I have a GTX 570 and I run on a 1920x1200 with everything on ultra and I disable MSAA... it never dips below 45fps on Caspian border 64 players...

Based off benchmarks on 2560x1600 monitors I think it should run dual, but your frame rates may take a dive unless you adjust settings to have playable frame rates.

Are you talking about using dual screen for gaming or just having a gaming screen and a browser screen on the side?
Gaming + browsing monitor will work GREAT!

I would've liked to use it for both gaming & a browsing monitor but like Blasting said the crosshair on games like bf3 would be in the bezel between monitors. I hadn't quite thought about that lol. 3 monitors is a ton of real estate that a) I don't have & b) the wife would cut my balls off.

Tell your wife that with 3 monitors you can multi task!

A) Play games and do online shopping for her
B) Do more work AND do online shopping for her
C) Have more stuff displayed on screens to compare shopping deals for her...

Note: Make it clear (or pretend) its for her benefit...

That is how I get away with my PC purchases by saying its for WORK and multi-tasking... so now I have dual ASUS monitors at my work PC and a 27inch at home... :sneaky:

You could also go wifeless and watch three stimulating HD videos at the same time on triple-monitor 1080p.

Can't argue with the truth: larger screens and more of them = higher productivity! http://www.corecommunication.ca/4-s...sing-a-second-monitor-can-boost-productivity/

lolz all good suggestions (minus getting a new wife!). Maybe if I just came home with 2 monitors and tell her I lost the receipt she'd just have to live with it.

I have the easy but costly solution. Figure what the two monitors will cost and tell your wife that since you "overlooked" mother's day you insist that she spend (cost of 2 monitors +$25) on herself ( spa, clothes etc).

Then buy and bring home the two monitors and when she inquires about you spending that $$ on the monitors tell her you spent more on her for mother's day.

Easy but costly. After 38 years of marriage, I never look at her Talbot's bill and though she gives me grief about more computer gear it's not too bad.

I def. didn't "overlook" Mother's day lol. I got her one of those Keurig Coffee maker things and a woven blanket that had a family portrait woven into it. She loved them. I may just go out and get a few monitors and brace for the damage. Congrats on the 38 years, we just had our 3rd anniversary.

I have saved your suggestions for when ever I get married... good ideas!
