My friend bought a PowerMac G4 when they first came out...they were like what? $2500 or something? Anyway...at this price...it DID NOT include a keyboard or mouse. You had to purchase those seperately...WTF is up with that?

You have the ability to not buy the highest end hardware. Mac Minis are at $400 if you look around. I'm not suprised you are too stupid to figure that out judging by your other posts, though.

I'm not looking to make a good investment. Just a better investment than a PC ;)

But I do think a MAC that I get at a $300 discount will hold it's value for a couple of years -- which a PC would never do. That is to say if I pay $1800, in two years I think it is still going to be worth about $900.

That same PC would be worth $100.

I've purchased a powerbook, an ibook, and and am now upgrading that ibook to a new ibook and I have lost a minimum for each. I lost about $50 on the powerbook over 14 months, and planning on losing about $200 on the ibook after 18 months and three revisions. Not too bad, IMHO.

That's a lot better than I had assumed. Where do you plan on selling the used Apple hardware?

Have you seen what Apple charges for RAM upgrades for the Mini's? You don't have to buy the highest end no....but well WTF does that have to do with anything I said?

Moron.

Because you can't get RAM at crucial.

Ever check the price for RAM upgrades at Dell? I just paid $300 for a 1GB stick for a Dell server. Same stick was $200 at Crucial, but Management wanted only Dell hardware for a one-stop shop incase something goes wrong.

Ebay.

I just got back from the Apple store with a 12" iBook and a 4GB Black Ipod Nano. Couldn't pass up an open box Nano for $180. :D

Listen carfully:

DO NOT buy a new Mac before the complete their switch to Intel CPUs. The software will NOT be cross compatible.

I absolutely love OS X. I'm enamored by it.

iPhoto is terrific. iMovie is terrific. iGarage is wonderful.

All three of those programs are worth $2000 to me because there are none that are more simple and better suited to my style.

You know why artists love Macs? It's not because they look pretty -- it's because a severely retarded person (like myself) could sit down at one and be making professional quality music and video productions in 5 minutes. There is like NO learning curve.

I'm big on simplicity and to me OS X is pure genious. As is Steve Jobs I guess.

Dude, don't get a Mac for software like that. Get a Mac for stuff like Final Cut Studio, Logic, etc. Don't use those wimpy programs for an official business.

But, but then macs will be PCs with a *nix OS. Where would be the "I am holier than though cause I run different hardware" mantra of the Mac Cult when they run the same hardware???

They are changing to a holier than thou because I run different software mantra. Also, some of the hardware will be proprietary.

You specifically mentioned the lack of value and how overpriced the hardware is.

Yeah...the lack of value indeed. Thanks for owning youself.

And yes...the hardware IS overpriced. I don't think anyone (well except you) would dispute that.

The only lack of value that I mentioned was the fact that they didn't give you a KB/Mouse with a $2500 computer. If they can't just include that in the price...that's pretty lame. I think most would agree. If you bought a Dell for $299 and it didn't come with a Mouse/KB you would see tons of people complaining.

Ummm....just so you realize....

AMD's new dual-core CPUs?

They are *pounding Mac ass* in Photoshop. Every benchmark that Mac users have been using for years to show how 'superior' Macs are for photo editting and media creation are being totally pwned by the new dual-core CPUs from AMD.

It's totally sweet. :D

You didn't get the memo? Mac computer users are just as clueless as PC users. Get off your AT high horse already. Not everyone assembles their own rigs.

As far as your original point, all Mac computers besides the mini currently come with a keyboard & mouse. The Power Mac G4 is 6 years old; way to bring up a relevant example.

Like iamwiz82 indicated, all OEMs charge up the ass for memory upgrades. Your unconvincing argument, if you can call it that, has nothing to do with how Macs hold their value better than PCs. Btw, just because they hold value better doesn't mean they are better then or now; your almost religious position belies any understanding of that point.

WTF are you smoking? What argument? My God! I said that Mac's hold their value more than PC's....

The only reason I said anything about lack of value and the keyboard thing was because people like you can't read to see that I did in fact say that they hold value more than PC's.

And no...not all OEM's charge up the ass for memory upgrades.

Where did I say that because they hold value better it means that they are better or worse? That's right. I didn't...so stop putting words in my mouth.

Learn to freaking read people. Jeez.

Pot, meet kettle?

Look, you stated an obvious statistical fact (Macs have better than average resale value), then threw out an argument on why that is the case. iamwiz82 and myself poked holes in that *ahem* logic, and then you disclaimed you ever even made an argument, and rant that others lack reading comprehension? If you can't even understand your own words, I guess you figure nobody else does?

No big deal, we'll all get used your anti-Mac trolling as we'd been used to Gurck's anti-iPod trolling.

You haven't even touched on anything I have said. I'm not anti-Mac. I don't like them and don't think they are worth the money....but I'm not going after everyone who has one and calling them stupid or anything. I have posted a lot of personal opinions about them...sure. Doesn't mean that nobody else will like them. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything....so I don't know why you think I'm trying to argue about it.
