OK so I decided to build a cheapo gaming rig to replace my old old one. I tried to get the best parts I could. All prices in Canadian $.

Processor
Core 2 Duo e5200 - $97
Will try to overclock this to 3.5Ghz

Motherboard1

GIGABYTE GA-G3M-ES2L -$60
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813128357
Heard this is a budget overclocker

Video Card
EVGA 8800GT Superclocked - $91
Will be overclocking this guy too.

Hard Drive

Seagate 500GB SATA 7200.10 16MB - $50
DIdnt realize this was 7200.10 until after, oh well hope its good

RAM
2 x 1GB Crucial Rendition DDR800 - $16
Figured 2GB is enough for XP. Had good experience with these in past before. Dont know how much these will overclock.

Optical
Samsung 20x DVD burner - $23
Cheapo DVD drive

Case+PSU
Cheapo Case and Generic 450W PSU - $40
Didnt have any problems buying generic PSU's/Cases in past. Dont need anything fancy

----------------

Total: $377 Canadian + Taxes + Shipping

Please critique. Thank you!

Nice budget build. If you don't already have one, there are good enough 19" widescreen panels around for $100-120. One of those would match well with that video card.

If you're going to be overclocking, I'd consider not skimping on Case and PSU. You'll save yourself some headache. You don't have to spend alot of money, just get something reasonable, like Earthwatt 430. Anandtech just did a massive round-up of budget PSU, it'll be wise to give a read.

^Thanks for the responses. I just havent found any non-generic cases in my price range (under- $80).

I will be using it on a 22" acer LCD 1680x1050

You can find cheap cases that offers 120mm intake and exhaust, and that should do decently with cooling. Again, something within reason, not necessarily Antec 900 or that sorts. You can find decent case for $30-40. Or, you can reuse your old case, if it's NOT that bad.

Did you buy all your parts through Newegg Canada?
* E5200 = $101.49 + shipping @ Newegg.CA
* GA-G31M-ES2L = $67.49 + shipping @ Newegg.CA
* etc, etc...

Are your prices for open box or used parts?
